foreign woman DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR WORK

Post by Eledi » Sun Oct 21, 2007 3:19 pm

Hello,i got my BBA right here in Finland, 2 years after my graduation (no sign or smell of a job),,could you guys please advice me on how to go about the issue (looking for a job (as a foreigner) in this country?),my finnish is good(but not fluent),i've got a permanent residence and i'm in good health.I am planning to go for an MBA next year(incase i don't find a job),but i am so dissapointed; whats the use of having 2 degrees when you have 0 experience???at the moment my job search is limited(only in Finland) cause i got a child to raise(and a marriage to "sort out") before planning a move to another country..PLEASE HELP.. . i am desperately looking for a job (temporary or permanent),,, i'll be 33 next year so ITS URGENT.

Can I ask what your BBA is in, specifically? Or at least what kinds of jobs it would qualify you for?

Well, tiptop.fi was looking for "computer operators", which mainly requires fast typing and they got somesuch jobs all the time if you want a "clean office job".

You got the degree for it - just "sell yourself" ;)

hello,
thanks all for your advice, i'll try those sites..thanks Hank for encouraging me to sell my degree, as i do have it...i have tried so much for a long time now, without any success...thanks for reminding me to sell myself and find a clean office job...sounds funny but those are just the right words that i needed to hear from someone..lately i've been concentrating on ISS,L&T,RTK and other cleaning companies, as i've reached a point when i think that i should just forget that i ever had a degree.......
cheers and any other/more advice will be appreciated,,

The tiny difference with "clean office job" and "office clean job"...

Also UPS and the likes were looking for staff; so "warehouse" job these days doesn't mean lifting heavy boxes necessarily.

AFAIK MBA requires €€/$$, so if you afford that without a job, why bother?

take your time, enjoy the MBA and apply direct as a manager afterwards 8)

Erm... there is a MBA and then a Master in Business Administration... I have a BBA from (Haaga)Helia, and if I got the Master degree in the computing department, I'd be a MBA. Nothing to do with the "paid degrees", and even less with business...

Eh, no. It dosn´t go like that in Finland. Degrees are here and there and everywhere, eledi is right, she needs experience, and ANY kind of work looks good in a CV.

Like the manager position is waiting to jump at her and stand in front of her nose..
What shes doing is correct for now..
Though Eledi, you should also try some "artistic" business areas as those areas are the ones lacking "marketing"..
Art studios, English magazines
there are 53 places in marketing in this search but YMMV..so try everything..

Thanks Hank and Raamv for helping me deal with Ciprian, who seems to come from planet Pluto. When i saw his message, i was so shocked...he knows how to use the net, he even managed to find"finlandforum" and he doesn't even know that you can get MBA without those $$$$$€€€€€€....anyway,
Thanks Raamv for the job lists, actually i visit mol.fi everyday and may be 3 times a day to check for jobs, have tried to apply for some but still " no success"..see, many or almost all need people with experience in the work.
I'll try and put more effort with the search, please help me with any info or sites that could help me with this...
thanks again guys, you are too kind.
nice wkend 2 u,
ps: Ciprian, i do hope that you are in contact with your relatives(romanians) who happen to be right where i am...if not,,,try to find them, they happen to visit the same forum you are visiting NOW.

Well, if you talk of an "MBA programme", those are these "company pays" degrees. The polytechnics "Master programmes" are different. Its much easier in Finnish... well, long words...
