I know a couple of Finns in the UK, but none who would work for 20k in Camden. I can understand certain types of business wanting to be near the hum, but if you guys are just tapping keyboards all day, why set up in the smoke?

Now rather than sound all negative, I just had a thought..... The girls in the Finn Guild and Guild Travel........I'm sure quite a few of them just do a year there and go back to Finland, perhaps they even manage to get a cheap room in Rotherhithe there....... Now your job could be attractive to them if they have cheap digs and fancy another year in Lontoo...... unless they've had enough of blowing soot out of their nostrils and want to return home.....short temp contract could also suit you if you're a new company....your other plan should be to send one of the young chaps from your office down to the Finn Guild, get him to tap up one of the young ladies and then perhaps you've got your employee!.....or perhaps she then buys him a ticket for Ryanair to Tampere :lol:

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Haha I can think of the right person for that!

We're not in the manky part of Camden. There's a lovely park two minutes walk from the office. Most of the other companies who have offices in this area are fashion houses.

I'd rather put up with the Underground and earn 40k a year than see a cow from my window and earn 17k! The average starting salary for a graduate in the UK is really low.

Hey, Finn Guild might be quite good, but my impression of it is that its rather more for famililes and 'established' Finns in the UK (basically read older Finnish women who have married British husbands) but then my sample demographic might be a touch biased as my mother was/is a permanment fixture of Finn Guild, and applies to all the categories above. And I'm a fully paid up member too...

Anyway, alot of Finnish (mostly girls it seems) go to the UK for university degrees...perhaps they'd like to do your job thing after graduating?? I dunno how'd you'd contact them - they tend not to be involved with Finn Guild so much, as they're not that bothered about maintaining links with Finland because well, I don't know why - they're out having too much fun! Certainly all the young Finnish women I've met in England don't really bother with Finn Guild. But its worth a shot anyway....

I know two Finnish girls who have been to the University of East London -- perhaps get in contact with the careers office type thing?? Or perhaps (sneaky this) try some Finnish Au pair agency or something. I guess Finn Guild might be the best bet. They produce a mag, I'm sure you could put an ad in there and then something might happen by word of mouth. But the Au Pair thing might work - somehow.

If you're looking for someone to work on SEM and that can be done from Finland try the optimization forum (
http://www.optimointi.com/foorumi/ -> Työtä tarjolla (work available) ).
Watch out for the sign up form, don't fill the "spambot" fields :-)

Well that explains why 90% of the applicants we've had from Finn Guild have been female! Again, thanks for all your help.
