We have cross-country skis and slalom skis - which need to hang
vertically on the wall. I have system I made up with U-shaped clips from Biltemma which work on the cross-country ski (relying on the 'bowing' of the ski) but I can't figure out how to hang the slaloms or skate skis.
The system here is american, I can't find it here...the K-Rauta system is pants and expensive
Any ideas would be great

Any bright ideas for hanging skis in the storage?

Cant you just tie them with a thread and hang them from the ceiling?

My skis (and hers) are in a canvas bag (bought with the skis) with the ski sticks/boots/wax etc, and the bag is hanging from a hook in our cellar...pending some snow or a trip to Ruka.

I made a wooden ski holding device... works OK. It holds about 10 pairs of skis.
A little tray on the floor with lips around to keep the bottom of the skis in the right place.
Then at about 1.5m high I have made a wooden retaining hoop from four bits of wood. One of these bits of wood can be swivelled and hooked to hold the tops of the skis in place.
On the top part to my device there are hooks for hanging ski poles.
It was built from scrap wood so it cost me nothing except for a couple of hours.
If I had thought of strings attached to hooks on the ceiling it would have saved me some pissing about

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Plenty of food for thought, brilliant link Zam, taa!

..sounds like it works, but call me dense but I can't quite visualise this one! Are the bits of wood thin and hooped like bamboo?

..its the need for speed, we live beside a ski-track - so we want something thats super quick to yank the skis out of and put them back - so we can be out and back in 40minutes - in the time it takes for chocolate brownies to cook in the oven

OK... you are dense!
Actually I was having trouble in explaining it and not enough time to write the mail...
...it is four straight bits of wood connected together in a square shape. One side is attached to the wall with two anchors. The opposite piece of wood (ie the piece of wood furthest from the wall) has one end attached with a bolt which allows it to swivel, and the other end is attached with a hook allowing it to be locked in place... is that any better

Hi!
Can you help me?
I will go to Finland (Vääksy) in January. And I like skiing (downhill). Is it possible there? I searched for it via the internet, but unfortunately I didn't find any information about this.
I would be very happy, if you could tell me something about Vääksy and skiing.
Thank you.

20 kilometer from Lahti..it is the only city to host the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships six times..

The ski slopes at Messilä, provide a splendid setting for downhill enthusiasts.

In the area around Lahti there are many cross country routes..but in South Finland there are not many hills/down hill routes..
Messilä is about 10 kilometers from Lahti city center..it is mainly for families..and if there is SNOW...it gets filled with KIDS...especialy at week ends. Long queues at the lift.
I also think (personal opinion) that for the qualityof the facilities/length of runs...it is bit pricey.
But as far as I am aware..there is no-where else within 100 kilometers ..so they can charge what they like.
