Hey guys, I am doing a school project about pets and pet insurance in Finland. What we have to do is decide whether Finland is a good country for our hypothetical pet insurance company to move in to.
My questions are:
Is there any pet health insurance companies currently in Finland (I searched high and low on google but didn't find any)?
Are household pets like dogs and cats expensive in Finland?
Are vetrenary bills expensive in Finland?
Anything you might know on this subject will be helpful. If you can point me in the right direction I will be extremely grateful!
Cheers from Canada,
Casey

Re: Pet insurance in Finland?
Well search again. Almost every company has one. Though they're dispersed like some have "eläinvakuutus" some have "lemmikkieläinvakuutus" some have "kotieläinvakuutus" some have "koiravakuutus" and some have "seuraeläinvakuutus". And some have it included in the homeowners or farmcbolts wrote: Is there any pet health insurance companies currently in Finland (I searched high and low on google but didn't find any)?

The insurance companies are obviously not as stupid as you'd like them to be.Flossy1978 wrote:I can't get pet insurance. I have three pet rabbits and apparently you can't get rabbit insurance here. Rabbits are more expensive than cats and dogs. I spend a fortune on my furbutts a year with vet visits. One of them has to go to the vet constantly.
Vet bills for the missus' cat (formerly cats) are usually €100-200 once or twice per year. In September one of them had to be put on a drip and have tests twice, it was eventually euthanised ... bill for one dead cat was about €500.
Cheap at twice the price.

Yes I know insurance companies aren't stupid. I know why they don't let you have rabbit health insurance. It's just in alot of other countries you can get rabbit insurance.
The monthly fee for having three rabbits insured would probably be more than cover the cost of the vet visits a year anyway, so it's a moot point in this case (if there was such insurance here cause I can bet you anything it wouldn't be cheap insurance, this is Finland afterall LOL).
Every visit to my vet (even if nothing is really done) costs us about 80euros. We can afford it of course (we'd not have my rabbits otherwise), but still.... 80euros is alot of money.
But I love my buns like they're my children, so it's ok
