Portugal v Finland..... don´t hold your breath :(

Post by oompah18 » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:44 pm

....... not only do Finland have to win, but there is more I didn´t realise:
From BBC website:
"Finland can qualify if they beat Portugal, who are three points ahead, as the result in the corresponding fixture between the two teams was 1-1 and teams are judged on head-to-heads if they are level on points. But if Finland beat Portugal and Serbia win both their remaining qualifiers - home matches against Poland and Kazakhstan - then all three will finish on the same number of points and Serbia will qualify by virtue of their head-to-head record against the other two teams"
Got all that? It´s too much to bear

Despite being English, I hope Croatia beat England, that should sort out McClaren´s arrogance. Did you see him in that interview on Sky News? SCREEEEEEEEEAM :x Even if England do qualify, please can he be replaced? (pretty please)

* The postponement of the Serbia-Kazakhstan fixture rather invalidates UEFA's policy of ensuring that the last round of matches takes place simultaneously. If Serbia beat Poland on Wednesday and Finland also manage to overcome Portugal in Porto, there will be only muted celebrations in the Finnish camp, as the players will know they have to wait several days to learn their fate. Conversely, the Serbs will know only too well what they have to do.

Dear Mr. Tigerking (did you REALLY join this forum just for this? How do you say "Get a life" in Štokavian dialect?)

The Finnish players have strict instructions: if they hear on their earpieces that Serbia are beating Poland by two clear goals or more in the last ten minutes of the game, they will concede enough goals to secure Portugal's safe passage to Euro 2008, and will then personally each contribute a plastic snow-shovel for your Football Association to clear the snow for the exciting Kazakhstan match that you failed to arrange on time.
