cant speak any finnish
If you search for other topics about work, you'll see that:
*no Finnish + no special (IT) skills* means no job, unless you're very lucky.
And if you use the search function and read the stickies, you'll find information that can help you.

Amy, do not loose hope on your search, First have a good contact with the labour office in Oulu and ask them for the updated available job in Cleaning also ask for other unskilled jobs available and they will give you the names of the companies and their contacts then contact them, always go to the Labour office for new vacancies. I guess you are now studying the finnish language, try to improve your skills in the finnish language because it impresses the employers. secondly try to make finnish friends then you can hear from them the latest news about job vacancies in companies. You need to go out and start contacting factories for any available unskilled jobs then you will be closer to get one. don't give up. try this for one week and you will see the result.

I'm wondering is it so much better in Finland then in a home country to come here to stay out of work?

I think you could also try to find work from posti or relevant places. I suppose there is demand for additional workforce in xmas. At least I know every year posti will advertise open positions for working during xmas.

In addtion, there is one place you could visit for applying work as newpaper delivery guy. Ask finns to tell you the place, which is supposed to be somewhere next to Kaleva building (Lekatie 1, Hyötyöä).

I found one job listed on the mailing-list. It's quite old information (Oct 27, 2007), so it might be already taken. Well, no harm to ask anyway.

Its a niche job market. Sometimes the "special skill" can be that you're easily exploitable as a no-speak stupid foreigner that works for peanuts thinking 6,99 is a huge salary...
Cheers, Hank W.

Posti jobs will already be filled for the Christmas period. They start doing this already in the early Autumn.

I think you'll be out of luck asking at Posti.

How can you get this message? I'm living and studying in Kokkola for the first year! I really desire getting a job here, but it seems hard to have a job here. Could you help me to get some information about job here?
