Jani Sievinen, the most successful swimmer in Finnish history, won the gold medal in his favourite event, the 200 metres individual medley, at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Dublin on Thursday.
The Finn clocked a time of one minute 55.40 seconds, a championship record and the third fastest time of his career over the short course. Sievinen even threatened to break his own world record mark of one minute 54.65 seconds before falling behind schedule during the last fifty metres.

Really Jani always swims in the swimming hall in Nummela on Friday, he has also groups with pupils. Esa Sievinen always walks with his dirty shoes and his cigarette on the side of the pool. Whoops... shouldn't have said that one.
Here another picture. Jani Sievinen and my family in the sauna
(really I have that picture, made in 1993)

About the polar bear swimming: the challenge is still open:
Who dares to swim 25 meters in ice-cold weather?
Enough places, for instance in Vantaa Kuusijärvi, it's quite cheap
and they have 25 meters open. In Lauttasaari, the SSS (suomen sauna seura) also keeps open a track in the sea.
(However, you have to be honoust: if you haven't tried this before, if you have heart problems, you can't swim this one).
