So long, Roy
So where will he go and who will replace him here?
Ireland would be my best guess of "where to...

There is another Brit here in Finland who might be considered to replace Roy..

Umm I notice from that piece that he now has dual nationality...

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

The Irish reportedly haven't contacted him. One thing seems certain. He can't be mad enough to want the England job (or can he? never SEEMED like a bloke with an ego the size of Texas, but you never know), as people are turning that down left, right, and centre. The jokes are going around that Harry Redknapp got himself arrested on corruption charges just so's he could avoid an FA interview, and Jose Mourinho has tried to rule himself out by saying he was the one who kidnapped Madeleine McCann...
Bloody hell the BBC were quick they have Roy in the frame already..

That's from yesterday... they made a call, he was daft enough to answer and not use the tried and tested technique for telemarketers - "Sorry, I think you have the wrong number."sinikettu wrote:Bloody hell the BBC were quick they have Roy in the frame already..![]()

Once they'd got him on the line, he just unravelled and talked and talked. Maybe he DOES want it after all, though it doesn't really compute. He'd be going up against the big boys of the red-tops there, and his past experience has been in quiet backwaters like Switzerland and Scandinavia.
BBC's on it, in their inimitable style...
Hodgson's side won 24 points in Group A, in comparison to England who won 23 points in Group E.
Yeah? So? Finland played fourteen matches, England had twelve. Your point was...?

Hope so, since he'll be in charge of dogs. My guess is that this will prompt a few hefty "I am withdrawing from international football" letters. The next bloke will have some rebuilding to do.simon wrote:Cant see him getting the England job meself. They are going to want a bigger name than Hodgson, with Maureen already getting to the top of the pile. Hodgson hasnt got that great a record with the english game anyway.
Do wonder who the Finnish FA wil get and will he be of any pedigree.
Armostrong speaks fluently finnish and knows well finnish football and players.sinikettu wrote:So where will he go and who will replace him here?

In my opinion he would be perfect as a national coach, or at least as a co-trainer.

Are the BBC head hunting from HS, or vice versa?
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

BBC I think is dumbing down for the masses
There's that, and there's also the journalistic licence to smack McLaren in the gob at every opportunity.simon wrote:Thats exactly what I thought when I read that.otyikondo wrote:BBC's on it, in their inimitable style...

"Hey, nobody's going to KNOW that Finland played two more games... let's make it look as if this Roy fellah got more out of Finland than McLaren got out of England.. just rub it in a bit more...
And people wonder why nobody wants their stinking job. It sounds to me like he's done the smart thing for a man of sixty. He's an insider at Inter, can get his head down and do something, and won't be finding himself on the end of a noose of the tabloids' making.
