Life in blue and white (Helsinki Sanomat Version)

Finlands 90th Birthday tomorrow :

Nine foreigners and naturalised Finns offer their symbols for Finnishness in todays Hesa.

Sauna..pile of Shoes in the hall..Pipo wearing..and last but not least..the bidet hand-shower, that staple of the bathroom.

What did they miss out in this list of Symbols of Finnishness?

This is my favorite quote that just about sums up Finns for my way of thinking.
There is one thing about Finnish behaviour he has never come to terms with. If there are three lanes on a motorway, Finns always seem to drive in the middle lane.

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

That reminds me of the way Spaniards did, when I was driving on a motorway in The Canary Islands. It was very dark, almost pitch-darkness, but all the cars were totally without any headlights, some of them without any lights whatsoever.
