Friends in Porvoo

Post by Zoeyy » Tue Dec 11, 2007 3:40 pm

Hi, anyone looking for friends in Porvoo?

I'm a Finnish woman, 25 years myself, and I'd really like to get to know some international people around here. I've been living abroad, and I also have some Central-European roots, and now in Porvoo I'm noticing how there aren't any interesting international people.

Some things about me: I'm studying my last year in Helsinki University, and my hobbies include nature (hiking), reading, sports and cooking.

So PM me if you're interested!

PS. I'm in a relationship, and I'm NOT looking to date anyone.

See, that's nice.

I was hoping to help some lost person, who might be new here and need some support. If not, that's fine too. That's just really stupid to scare me away too, before someone who actually LIVES in Porvoo, might read this. By then I'll probably have a dozen of these sarcastic comments here, and I'll stop following the thread, so that person might go unnoticed.

Anyways, that's not really so convicing - mobbing others about their messages - since you're here yourself, and that probably means your social network is a total mess. Maybe you're jealous because you happen to live in another city?

"jos en ole muuta saanut elämässäni aikaan, ainakin olen päässyt pois Porvoosta"

(said one of these Miss Finlands in the 1990's)

And yes, I did that too
Cheers, Hank W.

Zoeyy...
I'm not so sure if you're so far off with your "social life is a boring mess" remark ;)
I thought myself the other comments were quite rude. But owwell... I guess being a foreigner, and being treated the way most of "us" have by the Finnish system and the -general- stuckup-ness off the Finnish people, has made "us" sarcastic out of self-protection.

Note the "us" in quotes, since there are always exceptions to the rule.

I'm not in Porvoo. I leave it in the middle whether that's unfortunate or lucky ;) and I'm married myself, with an insanely busy social life. But if you're in Helsinki some time I'd happily have a drink and a chat with you.

I really hate the sarcasm here, and mcowboy seems to have a little too much self love and importance, Ive seen soo many sarcastic comments from you man. And the Finns have NOT made US sarcastic in any way, I really dissagree, this is just a self protecting and insulting method used by people who can't express themselves.

If your gonna say something nasty, then say it properly, because sarcasm is the cowards way out.

ps. sorry to the girl looking for some new friends to help or meet

Thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waiter.

PS. Just because you're unhappy about Finnish socio-dynamics, don't take it out on me. Most of your posts are moaning about how rude and inconsiderate Finns are. Deal with it, you're in Finland, or move out. Whining about it won't change it, doing something about it won't change it, so get used to it.

I'm surprised about the number of posts from women on this forum looking for friends or keeping secrets from their husbands/boyfriends... and I always thought that your partner is your best friend and that the open communication is a key to a successful relationship... silly me.

I have had my moments, only a couple though....but you just seem to dump on people so easily, so maybe its you thats unhappy here. Im not I love it mostly.

I do agree that this net thing is making some people go behind the partners backs but these are things that you have to talk about with your partner anyway, and you did judge her quite harshly without knowing what she was looking for

Not unhappy, but realistically Finnish. I didn't judge anyone, I made a general comment, since there's been a number of female postings:

"I'm looking for friends, but I have a boyfriend"... is that only a coincidence or a symptom of something greater, hence the question I made.

The best way to make friends is get active, take up hobbies, go out to cafes, bars, meet friend's friends, talk to other students/co-workers... in real life. Meeting people on the net is always a gamble, things might look good on the screen but the actual chemistry is a totally different thing (as we seen with many of the net relationships; on this forum too.)

I'm not telling you anything, you're making assumptions and you know what they say about assumptions...
