Re: POSTI JOB
i think You should visit official Post site http://www.itella.fi and there you can try to find out more about Rovaniemi. Good Luck!
I was applying in Helsinki for post jobs like mail or newspaper delivering, but every time they sent me a letter with a regret that i am not a chosen one...

that he is not welcome there?karel wrote:Well ummm... Don't wanna shatter your glasses, but doesn't that tell you something?taiwobrain wrote:i have applied several times on the website, but the application has always yielded negative

hahaha...
I even dont think so there are so many finnish people wanting to find a cleaner's job and even then the employer is 'waiting' for some finnish...
Re: POSTI JOB
It could be because you are expected to interact, even as cleaner, with people. The concept of linguistically challenged cleaner just mopping floors does not work here. People might actually run into you and make remarks along lines of "could you empty my trash"... Upon which it is expected that this thing is either done or some kind of explanation is given that you cannot do it. Fail that and company you work for gets bad rep.rauginta_kojine wrote:that he is not welcome there?karel wrote:Well ummm... Customer service has invaded the cleaning business.

Finland already has established "Professional Training" to qualify cleaners! So it may be a good idea to get properly qualified before trying to get a job as a cleaner.
Naturally, the courses are conducted in only in Finnish. I know that AMIEDU has an Oppisopimus (Work Placement/Training) scheme that places you in a job to gain OJT (On the Job Training) experience. Another aim of the 'Oppisopimus' scheme is that the employment relationship continues after the training has ended.
AMIEDU: http://www.amiedu.fi/KoulutuksetJaPalve ... ch&subj=13
Laitoshuoltajan ammattitutkinto (1-1,5 v )
Siivoustyönohjaajan erikoisammattitutkinto (1-1,5 v)
Siivousteknikon erikoisammattitutkinto (noin 2 v)
Finns are really taking education to a whole new level!
And I'm sure that its just a matter of time before the Universities of Applied Sciences will have a Cleaning Technician Bachelors Degree program...with a Masters degree to follow. : )

So if You just wanna get some money from working in summer, for example as a cleaner, and if you are a school student (i mean secondary school, for example the summer is between 11th and 12th grade), you will not get/be accepted to this job because you dont have any certificates or experience! Holy shhit! Nonsense... I dont know how to call it in other way...

Re: POSTI JOB
Created courses for cleaners is the best way how finnish people showed us their opinion about foreigners. Foreigners are not welcome here even not for cleaning. I understand that foireigner invasion is annoying and stuff... but there are still many exchange students who just want to get a job for living expenses. On this subject, I was very lucky that my employers do not care if I talk finnish or not, if I have any experience or not (actually I am not a cleaner, by the way).

Re: POSTI JOB
Many foreigners apply for work at Finland Posti, so the chances of actually getting a job are pretty slim. Usually you have to 'know' someone or just go through the usual recruitment centre thing which is usually a negative unless it's Christmas time or some other special time when more workers are needed.
To work in the sorting centres, you don't always have to know Finnish, as it always depends on what you are doing.
You do have to know Finnish if you are going to be a delivery person of any kind. There's no if's or butts about that. Proper Finnish is needed to interract with customers.
Posti isn't employing so many people these days. They are gettin more and more machine orientated and hense are not employing as many people and not as many people get permanent contracts either.

Re: POSTI JOB
As usual the situation is probably more about the stupid foreigner not bothering to study Finnish so they can understand the hazard of the chemicals they are using for cleaning, or understanding instructions about their work. Who wants to hire someone who cannot understand what the people working with them are saying, and can not interact with e.g. the people in the offices they are cleaning?Foreigners are not welcome here even not for cleaning.
Instead, people come and complain on this forum that they are discriminated against.

Hey All of You there !!!!
Its really strange, that no one dare to face Reality,
Every Fins do speak English, mainly "Custumers" with whom one might inter-act.
Read about last century and even last 25years Fins history and you will understand.
Do believe that as an "ulkomalainen" ur role is to educate the people u might meet or have to survive with on this little planet, "Poor planet earth, one day it might explose" as the song said, and keep on
even if others do think they will use u and even you v been had more than once.
What one might say and do when as an "ulkomalainen=foreigner" u might be refused a cafe at 14h in a public place and the police answer is: Thisislegalin F.
Have a Kool short journey on this quiet strange little planet even u might meet
