Jumpers for goalposts

Post by MagicJ » Mon Jan 07, 2008 2:24 pm

It was suggested over a few beers that we resurrect an old thread so we had somewhere to blather about our teams successes or failures, unfortunately it's locked now so if you've got a moan about a ref, an opinion on an upcoming game, need somewhere to vent after a shock F.A. Cup exit  or simply want to laugh at Liverpool then post away...........

Tottenham are to revive their move for Rangers full-back Alan Hutton, with the Scottish club keen for the £8m transfer to go ahead. (The Times) Can you blame them? £8m? Spurs muppets.

But Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is lining up an £8m move for Chelsea centre-back Tal Ben Haim. (The Sun) Always nice to see Chelsea and Spurs waste money on the same player.

Aaaahhhhh, as an Arsenal fan i love the transfer window so i can see how many players Spurs fail to sign. Even if they do manage to sign one it's a usually a source of mirth too *Cough* Bent £16m *Cough* even a quality signing like Berbatov? he doesn't want to play for them anyway. Ha Ha.

If you've got nothing to say just post a footy photo:

Good new threadage.

Not too bothered about my team's shock FA Cup exit, though somehow I should be because it's the oldest and greatest cup competition in the world ever ever ever...

I'm following the transfer mayhem loosely, and just saw that ex-Villa 'keeper and perennial pegger Stefan Postma wants a transfer to QPR - I'm surprised he'd dare return to the shores of the UK after what the honey monster did to him in that tape last time

"1315: Goalkeeper Stefan Postma will take ADO Den Haag to the arbitration committee of the KNVB in an effort to secure a transfer to Championship side QPR. He has already agreed terms on a contract with the Hoops but ADO have blocked the transfer. "

But jiggery-pokery aside, where will Eccelstone's sacks of cash take QPR?

FA Cup 4th Round

Arsenal v Stoke City/Newcastle Either Stoke or Us will get Fat Sam the sack
Coventry v Walsall/Millwall Lower League Progression LLP
Oldham v Huddersfield Town LLP
Swindon/Barnet v Fulham/Bristol Rovers Barnet Fulham would be an interesting draw as would Swindon-Bristol if you're from the wes-countreee
Wigan v Chelsea Yeah yeah, boring Chelsea boring 2-0 win
Luton/Liverpool v Swansea/Havant & Waterlooville
Southend v Barnsley LLP
Southampton v Norwich/Bury LLP
Man Utd v Tottenham/Reading Come on you Rs!!!!!
Portsmouth v Plymouth Nice south coast affair
Derby/Sheff Wed v Preston LLP
Watford v Wolves LLP
Peterborough v Charlton/West Brom LLP
Sheff Utd v West Ham/Man City
Mansfield v Middlesbrough
Tranmere/Hereford v Cardiff

Ties to be played on 26 & 27 January

It's actually quite a ropey draw with so many of the 'prem' teams going out. But still that's the beauty of the FA cup hopefully one of the small teams goes a long way, especially Havant oh just imagine the grief if they gave Liverpool a game after tonking Swansea at home.

Lost interest, mate

From my 'Toffee-nosed' perspective, City, WHU, !"#¤%, etc having to deal with replays are the highlights of the last round. Portsmouth having another tie with the ACoN thinning their squad is good news. But then again, in two months and ten games, we could be out of cups and out of the running in the league...wishing we hadn't played Wessels in the FA Cup 3rd Round....

I'm with Salopian on this one. I have lost interest. I am an self loathing Blackburn fan. After that 1-4 loss I have been depressed. I still am not sure why Hughes made the changes to the line up that he did  .

Liverpool may move for 17-year-old Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare, after he expressed a desire to play in the Premier League. (Telegraph)
I fancy playing in the premiership, do you think Liverpool will blow some cash on me?

Yeah...for when was Hughes resting players, exactly? I feel Moyes, given the line-up and the proximity of tonight's semi-final, can be forgiven.

I hear Savage is off - holding talks with Derby today.

Salopian- good luck tonight, i'll be streaming it, here's hoping for an Arsenal-Everton final.

Do you think you've got more or less chance with a 2 leg semi? I'd say less but for the 2nd leg they might have to rest players with CL and League games which will be more important to them.

Thanks. Is a tough one...I'd say lesss - we proved last time at Stamford Bridge we can sneak something...but needing to do it twice? Hmm. We're missing our creative mids - Arteta, Osman and the Mighty Pie. On the other hand, Chelsea are missing Terry, Fat Frank, Drogba, Essien, Kalou, Sheva...so if Everton are going to beat a 'big four' team, this should represent one of the best opportunites - on paper at least. If Everton are still in the tie after tonight, the Toffees can turn them over at Goodison.

Predictions versus Spuds? Basics?

Is anyone (everyone?) else laughing at Newcastle right now? What's funnier? Fat Sam being sacked, or NUFC in general? Unbelievable stuff.

Also on the managerial front, I see Mixu Paatelainen has gone to Hibs...a big step up from TPS methinks.
