Hope to know free lawyers

Post by WantKnow » Mon Jan 07, 2008 2:43 pm

Hello,

I am planning to setup an IT startup company in Finland. I will need a lawyer. Are there some free lawyers in Finland? Will chamber of commerce provide some helps?

Thanks!

I am sure that some poor law student wouldnt mind you paying their living expenses while they complete their studies, so they could provide you with free law consulting for your startup!!

What planet are you from?

Chambre of Commerce might give you free advise, but getting all the legal stuff on paper is going to cost...

Are you sure you need a lawyer? When I started my company I didn't need a lawyer, but I did need an accountant, who handled all the company registration, tax etc.

The local council in my area have a system for encouraging new businesses and I dealt with them. They paid for the accountant to set up my company and also got me some government "start money" for the first 6 months of operation.

Why, of course, they exist in all municipalities. The good part is - if you are an immigrant and especially if you are an immigrant woman, and in some desolate Nowheremäki - you can get into special projects where the funding and courses and facilities come like the dinner for Manu. It is slightly more dire for us well-off native city folks, but we're not imagining about starting an enterprise without winning the lotto first, damn business school... killed my enterpreneurial spirit.

There is a very good sticky up there about starting a business in Finland. It should be read thoroughly with understanding - as a lawyer cannot help if you do not know what you are starting. As a thumb rule - one does not need a lawyer in Finland for much anything - if you know what you are doing. If you don't know what you are doing - the court will appoint you a lawyer if you can not afford one...

The local (un)employment office surely is the first door to tug.

Jep, as I understand, you can get legal advise if you join the chamber of commerce. The other alternative is to join an employer's association - if you're going to employ people. In your case TIKLI might be appropriate.

If you're IT startup gets funding, your investors should help you with all this stuff...

Hi,

You could also check Employment and Economic Development Centres. They provide help when you are starting a business.

I know that NYP has offered some free legal services/advice for start-ups in the past.

I recommend you to check out the Nuoret Yrittäjät (Young Entrepreneurs) -Project.
