Hello Hazel and the rest,

even though I contacted you already by pm... still would like to meet up but I would prefer next week as I am not only facing a lot of work this week but now also am sick. Next week should be better workwise for me.

BTW, I attended Finnish 1 and 2, now going on the third with Helsinki University and I am really happy with those courses. You will have to sit down and study on your own quite a bit and we are not really practicing talking in class but you will be able to at least read and understand quite a bit after the second course :-)

So, why don't you guys suggest a date for the coffee or beer?

Greetings,
Seve

Hey all,
Well how about Wednesday or Thursday next week? Say 7pm? We could all meet for a beer somewhere in the city?

If anyone's got any favourite places then let us know coz i haven't been here all that long so not many recomendations!

Why don't you show up at the JollyDragon "weekly welcome" at Memphis on the Wednesday. You get cheap beer anyhow with the card.
Cheers, Hank W.

Hi, another recent Brit here that would be interested in meeting up. Sometime this week is good for me. I've been here with my English fiance since the beginning of November, he's working for an international company here and I'm working freelance for an English company. So far so good, especially now the snow is here!

Hopefully see you soon,

Deborah

Hm, I am stuck at the airport until 19:30 next Wednesday because of work but Icould join you all at Memphis later. However, if we decide to meet up on Tuesday, Molly Malones is a nice place because they play live music even during the week. And it is very close to the railway station. I, myself, am a big fan of Baker's on Mannerheimintie. Great couches downstairs and café area, restaurant and bar upstairs...

Looking really forward to that...

Seve =)

I suppose I should pop my head in too

I moved here in October for a job already lined up.

I've tried meeting people the traditional way with almost no success so having been back to the UK for Christmas have realised if I'm ever going to settle I need to get some friends outside of work.

Hazel what part of Soton? I was there for the last 8 years studying and now also live in the Hertoniemi area!

I'd personally recommend the Kaisla as a great drinking venue

right in the centre of Helsinki

Hi Dave,
Oh wierd, you studied in Southampton too....what did you do? I lived on wilton avenue for 2 years (in the centre) and then moved to a quieter place after uni just off the Avenue, just before you get to London road. How about you?
And what work brought you to Helsinki? and how long for? Are you enjoying it? We should meet up one day and cringe at all the aweful clubs we used to go to!? Ever go to Jesters!?

Speak soon,
Hazel

Likewise. It would be good to meet up sometime in the centre with everyone (Kaisla gets my vote - has quite a selection of ales).

Also, as there seems to be a few of us in the Hertta area, how about a beer there sometime? The mighty 'Treffipaikka' perhaps?
Beth? Hä? 什么?

I did my masters and PhD in Chemistry there. I now work for Borealis based in Porvoo. My contracts permanent so it depends how I settle and whether or not i can convince my gf to come over!

Surprisingly in 8 years i lived all over from right up in highfield down to the polygon and somewhere in between just off Lodge road!

I'm more of an alternative guy, helped with the Rocksoc for 6 years so Jesters was not so often attended thank goodness with my time largely spent down the road at the Dungeon.

So everyone else doesn't feel left out - I'm going to head along to the Jolly Dragon meet up tomorrow. Anyone else attending?
