Reki, that €200 (per child) is because Kela cover some, and of course sometimes more depending on the family money situation.

Im not sure the original poster will get Kela help for the short time.

Liisa, if you know where youre going to be based it would be worth contacting some places to find out how you would be fixed. I suspect youre going to have problems finding an actual place for such short time, plus once you find somewhere the waiting time. Your best bet might be to employ a live out nanny for the hours needed, or even if you would have the space take an au-pair for 6 months as its a couple of hundred Euros per month plus their room and board.

Thanks everyone for the info! I was planning on coming for just a short time, long enough to do a linguistics experiment there and see if there was some intensive language course for a couple of weeks. I guess there doesn't seem to be any short-term options for my kids though. Hmmm...this may be more difficult than I thought.

Hello there,
I was just wondering where I might find a complete list of daycare for the Masala region. I have googled abit but was just wondering if there is a particular place like an Education Board or something that supplies that kind of thing?

thank-you

Hi Patricia

I don't know if the list exists anywhere in English, but the info is on the county website, so for Kirkkonummi you can find the info here http://www.kirkkonummi.fi/prime136.aspx. That particular one I've linked to is in Masala. I've been looking at daycare options over the past few days myself, it's such a hard decision, who to trust with your child...

Masala General daycare ( päivakoti) is in the Masalan Koulu itself. (Sundsberg is a little different though now as they now got their own zip code so remains to be seen )..
There are also lots of perhepäivakoti ( Family daycare where they take care of no more than 4 kids ) around...one near the jorvas Firestation..
When you apply, you can specify which kind of daycare you want..
Also, remember, just because you stay in Masala, you might not get a place if there is none there but one in Kirkkonummi downtown or in Laajakallio or somewhere else in Kirkkonummi.. SO till a place opens up you need to wait..

your fears are normal and daycare personnel are well trained to handle many situations..thats why they go through a heck a lot of training and certification...
BTW; you need to apply and the town can take upto 4 months before they can assign you a daycare and Kirkkonummi is OK compared to others..
but still, you might want to call them to find out what is the procedure for applying ( BTW; You can apply for a place even by the net but you need to know Finnish )..
