Have you already got a placement at the university? I mean, is it just a plan at this stage and you haven't actually even applied yet...?
Just trying to figure out how realistic your plan would be.

Okay. How much Finnish do you know already? I'm not quite sure what "sufficiently" would mean in your case, but assuming you know only the common greetings and can buy milk in the shop, it's a pretty long way to specialised medical texts. (I could be wrong but if you are going to specialise in Medicine in Finnish, your studies are not going to consist mainly of sentences like "hyvää päivää, nimeni on Kaaleppi, onko tämä oikea tie rautatieasemalle?") So, if you do not know any Finnish, you might be best advised to prepare yourself for an encounter with Τὸ Μέγα Θηρίον that is the Finnish languagesandrou wrote:My plan is as realistic as it can be.It's my wish to come back and specialise in Helsinki in February and I already have all my papers and documents ready. As i mentioned before I am a graduate student, which means that I already have a degree in medicine but cannot start my specialty untill I know finnish sufficiently. In case you can provide me with any info on a house ,a job or intensive (but reasonable priced)finnish lessons,I appreciate it.
I'm presuming that the specialisation you're after is not available in English?
I don't mean to put you down, just testing the waters so to speak. You're not telling us very much about your starting level, nor did you actually comment yet whether or not you know ( and not assume!) you will be accepted by the hosting university. So it's pretty hard to give any sort of sensible advise.
House - job - can't help you with those, sorry. Finnish - see: http://www.infopankki.fi/en-GB/Finnish_Language/

I see Well, just stating the obvious here but you have probably checked whether you need to have your Greek degree recognised by TEO http://www.teo.fi... see http://www.oph.fi/info/recognition - Recognition of foreign qualifications in Finland - Right to practice a profession... or, whether after your specialisation the thing is kosher as such... (I'm only stating these as friendly suggestions since I'm not 100%sure myself! You do not need recognition by TEO to apply to universities, academic recognition is a different thing; but if you wish to practice as a doctor, then it's essential)sandrou wrote:For any other info I will be mostly obliged.
edit: from another post of yours - "I have already searched it through and the specialty there is totally recognizable in my home country." Well, well. You put these bits and pieces of ESSENTIAL information in a dozen separate messages, and make us run after them So you're going back to Greece after this specialty...? I'm afraid you lost me there, I'm not that much an expert in studying medicine. How long would this specialty take, is it a degree or what...? Now I don't know.
No Finnish at all... right. I've posted you some language course possibilities in the above - what can I say in that respect except good luck...! Now it's your turn to do the running...
Re: please help me find home, job and lessons!!
Don't mention it... in fact I wouldn't even know, if you're going back to Greece after your special... thingummy, whether you'd need the TEO recognition or not.sandrou wrote:Thanks Sammy.I've already communicated with TEO and my degree is easily recognizable through the official papers I will bring to them on my arrival. So,the most serious problem remains my lessons right now.thanks again!
Hope you'll find something (and are a quick learner )
