Free Portrait Photography

Post by fauxfinndotcom » Sun Feb 03, 2008 7:40 pm

Hey--

My name is Megan and I am an exchange student at the University of Tampere with a nice camera and a lot of free time. Although snow is very pretty, I would really prefer some more animate subjects :) I especially love children and babies but am open to almost anything: slow-moving animals, couples, pregnant mamas, artistic headshots, whatever! I only ask for travel compensation if you are not in Tampere (but of course donations are welcome ).

Some samples...

Offer is still open. I'm going to be in Riga from tonight through Friday so if I don't respond immediately, that's why :)

I'm back.

Did I mention that I'm doing this for free?

Those are the same pictures you've been showing for months. Have you done anything at all to improve your photography skills in the last few months? We've been spoiled by a very talented photographer and nothing you've shown is even close to what she can deliver. I'm just sayin'...

I can only agree with Karen. In the average photo forum these photos would get hardly any positive comments, sorry.

I disagree that these are not good quality -- I think this is just a very different style than the other (very excellent) photographer who posts here. Also, I think she is making the point that she would like to get better (as an exchange student, she is obviously young) and looking for opportunities to do so. I think if you go back and look at the earlier photos the other photographer posted, you will see that she has gotten much better with experience (and it hasn't hurt that she has an adorable live-in supermodel).

it's just a matter of taste. I mean I love the photography of Diane Arbus but she wouldn't have been my first choice for wedding photographer. 8)

I'm just looking for experience. I can't provide new mediocre examples if I don't have anybody to photograph and I can't very well just walk up to Finns on the street and demand that they let me take pictures of them and/or their kids.
