Watch repair

Hi guys,

I have two watches but they're both broken. I paid a bomb for them and I wanna get it repaired desperately.

The front glass of both watches are cracked, although, the machinery works just fine. Is there any place I could have them repaired for cheap price.

it would help to know where you live for specific recommendations.

I've used a guy in Pori to service one of mine, that's probably not much use to you.

It would also help to know the brand/mark of watch..There is no standard size for watch glasses and you may need to find the "authorised dealer" for your watch.

Damn, i always seem to miss out critical info. Okay, i live in Pohjois Haaga (...so someplace downtown would be nice). Also, the brand of the watches are - Tommy Hilfiger and Esprit.

Would you happen to know like a generic watchmaker. If i take it to an authorized Tommy H. repair shop - I'd end up paying through my nose. I paid like 160€ for my watch and if I pay like another 80€ for it - its really really going to hurt. this kinda problem has happened to me before (..not in Helsinki though). I took the watch to one these 'generic' watchmakers and they cut a new piece of glass and replaced the old one. It was really affordable.

I had a look at a few Hilfiger watches recently, they look to be of passable quality, but they are certainly not expensive watches,
most of the money is for the brand name... I doubt you'll find a Hilfiger authorised repair shop. Just go to any bog standard Helsinki kelloseppä (I'm surprised nobody one here has recommended one yet)... so search google ... kelloseppä + helsinki

Quality wise, you'd be better off investing in a Casio MTD series diver's watch, you'll pay half the price of the Hilfiger equivalent mine took 9 years of beatings before I retired it (still working) and replaced it with another.

Tip ... don't buy it in Finland, it will cost you upwards of €120 - €150. They can be found on the UK version of Ebay and shipped from England for about €60

Second Floor Myyrmäki shopping centre..opposite Hemtek...Theres a watch shop ..they sell Helfinger¨..
There is an old guy doing repairs while you wait...or go for a coffee..
Note there are three watch shops in the same area..two just sell..no sign of a repair place ...You want the one as I say OPPOSITE HEMTEK...you can see the repair guy in his back room...he charged me 9 Euro to change the battery in my watch...It is a Suunto so it is not a quicky...and the battery cost 3 euro.
