>> It seems self-explanatory, that there are only few who find the way to Heaven, and the only reason I am a Laestadian is because I believe this is the only way............I know this sounds cruel, but since we all came from God, he would want everyone to really believe in him. <<

It sounds very cruel indeed ! If I believed like you do I would hate God

from all my heart. I find it very hard to accept that God will send all

devout Catholics, Pentecostalists, Methodists and Baptists to an

everlasting punishment. Very few ( if any ) people living in England,

France, Italy or Spain are familiar with the Laestadian movement. People

living in those countries do not have a chance to get saved. Isn´t that the

height of injustice ?

Think about the poor Amish ! : http://religiousmovements.lib.virginia. ... amish.html

They are very religious and they follow the Bible very strictly. And this is the reward that they will get : eternal pain and suffering.

As I said before, if I believed like you do I would certainly not be able to

love God. I would hate Him from all of my heart and I would never buy

toilet paper. I would buy Bibles and use Bible pages as toilet paper.

Hey Freida, I wanted to say Hello, I have also left a cultish, conservative religion and so I know just a little bit where you're coming from. It can be quite traumatic. :)
Don't worry, it only feels kinky the first time....

Quite right... I'd never heard of them...

OK... sounds similar to Quakers, but not quite as strict as the Mennoniites/Amish.

Quakers do not teach that you have to be quaker if you want to go to heaven. The quakers that I have met did not believe in an eternal punishment. They did not have any specific docrines or teachings on life after death.

You can find Quakers in most parts of the world but the same is not true about Laestadians :

http://www.quaker.org.uk/Templates/Inte ... deID=90284

The Mennonites and The Amish do not teach that you have to join them if you do not want to go to hell after you die. The Amish teach that it is very difficult to get saved outside their communities but they do not say that it is impossible. The Amish say : It is God who decides who will get saved, not we.

The Church of God in Christ, Mennonite seems to be one of these churches which teach exclusivity :

I do not think that all Mennonites have the same theology but I must

admit that I am not quite sure any more.

If there still are people on this forum who are serious about laestedius. Let me know. While I am not a believer, I come from that tradition and am interested about its background.

Info in English on Laestadianism :
http://www.makkeri.bravepages.com/index3.htm

Some religious people are very critical of Laestadianism:
http://oldapostoliclutheran.com/

I do not see Laestadians as bad people. I grew up in Kuusamo where Laestadianism is the main religion. Most ( if not all ) of them try to be law-abiding citizens. I never heard any stories of sexual child-abuse among Laestadians. Laestadians in Kuusamo believed that there is no salvation outside the Laestadian movement. I found that very funny.

Do you have some specific questions on Laestadianism ?

If you want to discuss Laestadianism with a member of the movement you could contact meila123 :

Hi,

I'm new to this site. I'm wondering if it's still active. Seems like most of the posts were from back in January.
Also, I wondered about the last post from Mark. He mentioned his family has 20 kids??? From the South?
I grew up the same way most of you's on this website did. No tv, no radio (except for the news on Saturday at noon), no makeup, no friends outside the church. Actually, back when I was small, at that time.....the women could not cut their hair. Since the years went by, that rule has been changed. I'm not sure how that happened - when I asked, I was told it was because Finland said it was okay for women to now cut their hair. OK, I guess that is how it goes?? I'm sorry, but it is very hard for me to understand alot of things!

Anyway, just wondering if this website is still active?
Thanks,
Biker

Laestadius

They own 'Turner Doors' they sack people who are not of their religion first. They try to do it illegally i.e. not pay their wages that are due, a quick call from a lawyer reminds them of the law on earth. Laestadius their heaven is open, their doors are closed.
