Finnish taxation 2008 and vero.fi

Post by r3ddr » Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:40 pm

Moi,

Some changes have been made to the Finnish Tax law and since January 2008 there seem to be some tax breaks/deductions for families with kids.
Any ideas on how those should be added in one's vero.fi / online tax card application? How about deductions for the first house loan? Should the bank
give you a statement on that, before you can go and approximate your paid interest and fill it in the application?

I guess this forum is a good place to discuss and share things about taxes (since death and taxes are some of the things you cannot avoid in life :D)

Thanks,

Thanks,
I posted some links in the jobs section..
First house tax, Interest paid on loan up to €4666.67 (30% will count towards the deduction=€1400) per person can be deducted , if with kids, each kids gets a €400 deduction that can be taken by either spouse.. The interest on loan info is got from bank and then its upto you and your spouse to do the separation of that( 50-50, 60-40 etc) But before you do that, you need to have a tick mark either in last year's tax form or this year's that one of you will give the other the excess of the deductions.
Technically, you are supposed to sign the statement from the bank and send it to Vero, for the interest on the loan.
( Bank can give you an estimate for this year, and they give you actual figures for last year).
Interest on subsequent house loans: only 28% counts.
You can also call tax office to count the "transporation" costs that you estimate to get your Tax % down.
Everything will come to you electronically during April( I think) that you then correct it and send it back for a refund in dec. or a payment in dec.

ok, thanks for the info; the deduction per kid is against the loan or accrued income?
(I had the feeling it's against the family income, not only load related. hmm)

The deduction is done automatic ( against the brutto or total accrued income, not against the loan)once you indicate how many kids you have and who is going to take it (tick box) and whether you are going to split the decuction or not.
