SeaBass...

Post by Galith » Mon Feb 18, 2008 4:27 pm

Does anyone have an idea on where to buy Seabass in Helsinki ?
I've been having this Fresh Seabass craving in a while now... but in between Salmon, Siika, Rainbow trout... It's getting a bit boring on the fish market.

Any insight ?

Stockmann (Helsinki, Tapiola)
The big K-market in Mankkaa/Nihtisilta (I call it Vexi, but I don't think it's been Vexi for a while; someone else can name it properly)

Really ? you find seabass in Stockman ??
Ok I have to double check then because this is the first place I went to.
As for the other place I'll try as well. Never been though. Is there any opening hours or stuf I should be aware of ?

thanks for the quick reply though!!

NONE of these places can be guaranteed to have it every day, but they are probably your best bet as they all have extensive wet-fish counters. And you would do yourself a favour by asking for it - at least then they know someone wants it. And might even be able to let you know when they have bought some in.

Have you tried Arctic Char? It's not sea bass but it is readily available and as it wasn't in your list I thought I might as well mention it. Nieriä in Finnish.

Meribassi.

Most supermarkets (including Prisma and K-Supermarket) will order you seabass if you ask them. Should take a few days. My Prisma (Jumbo) used to have a folder with pictures and information about all the exotic fish they have that could be ordered.
