Pet boarding for holiday?

Post by fauxfinndotcom » Tue Feb 26, 2008 2:45 pm

My boyfriend is taking me to Paris for my birthday in April (crazy!) and I will need to find a place for my kitty to stay the week we're gone. I don't have any friends who will be available to take care of her at that time so I was hoping you guys might be able to recommend some kind of boarding facility or perhaps offer an alternative solution. Do veterinarians usually have boarding services?

I am in the Tampere region.

Thank you kindly!

We use a pet sitting service provided by 4H (young people's organisation). They organise for young people to visit and take care of your pet in your home.
Practically they seem always to be girls in the age range 16-22. There appears to be a service in Tampere too.

We have just been away for 9 days and I think we pay €10 per visit, 2x per day = €20 per day. Earlier my wife had two cats, so it was definitely cheaper for the visits than for them to go to a cattery, but now that there is only one cat, it might be cheaper to pay for it to be boarded somewhere, however, it is surely less stressful for the cat to stay at home than be sent to a strange place.

Wow! 180 euros just to have a young woman visit your house cat (cat house? ) twice a day during your vacation. That's more money than I spend on my entire vacation!(of course, my vacations aren't all that great  )
