Wow! Thanks for your replies Penelope & everyone, interesting prices, some cheaper some the same, some not so cheap eh! Well, I could just pay a stinkingly expensive 8 euro return trip on the bus for 20 mins trip along the highway to Tampere, then get a city bus (free if I use a buggy, but I don´t- usually just youngest on my back in a kantoliina so would have to pay another 4 euros return trip) to an out of town superstore & drag 3 bored tots around the food dept of K & S market type shops... (Oh did, i forget to mention the 4euro return bus trip price to Tampere for my 5 year old too stingy bus company charges for over 3´s )
The only supermarkets I have found in the centre of Tampere are Stockmann deli & Sokos food dept, so let´s not go there.......
Still, at least we have enough snow & ice now that I can pull the kids to Siwa in a sled train, one behind the other, with a spare sled at the back for taking recycling stuff & bringing back shopping (Yes, I do this, 4 sleds kelkka/pulkka - I have arm muscles like Popeye )
I may not even have much money to go shopping this month anyway, as I have just noticed that they have deducted 60% tax from my kotihoito raha due tomorrow, instead of the usual lowest basic rate, around 13% I think I know it´s the new tax year but KELÄ knows my tax rate, because they get it wrong EVERY time!
Would life be any easier for us if me or dear hubby learnt to drive??? I think not!
Anyway, on the bright side, off to Wokingham for Easter, to visit the ageing relatives for the first time in 4 years, where I find my heaven : TESCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No.... Lidl of limeyland is Lidl. Tesco is more like S group as there are BIG Tescos (that are open 24/7) and then there are little Tescos and mid-size Tescos and Quick Tescos and Tescos with petrol stations and Tescos inside big malls etc etc. There are even some Tescos which are just large plots of brown field at strategic motorway intersections, with the unique function of preventing the competition building on the space. There was another cartoon where the same lady had a Tesco in her living room and her husband says "I haven't noticed that one before, when did it open?"

Finnish grown cucumbers cost more than Spanish ones that normally Lidl has in their selection.
I personally do not buy any vegetable or fruit if it comes from sunny and polluted Spain, unless it is certified organic fruit/vege.

Yes but...

Growing cucumbers in Finland in the middle of winter requires energy for heating and lighting the greenhouses, and fertilizers... which also creates pollution. I think the jury is still out on this one.

Bottom line is.... don't eat cucumbers in the middle of winter.

Have they changed the policy? I've always been able to get mine cashed at the nearby Siwa without having to buy anything
