screwdrivers for electronics

Ok, so the thing is, I'd like to disassemble my laptop to some degree (in order to access and clean the heatsink).. Managed to take off and unplug the keyboard by using a screwdriver used for repairing Singer sewing machines. But now it seems I'll need an even smaller one for the next relevant screw.

My question is, does anyone happen to know what sizes of screwdrivers are used for this kind of stuff? I'm going to look for a set of smaller ones tomorrow, just thought it might be helpful to know the size I need (though I guess I can somehow take the smallest screwdriver I have and compare it with those I find).

Edit: I mean size as in "size numbers" (to maybe be able to directly ask for it)

My only tip when buying the smaller sizes...

It may appear that the head fits the screw you want to open, but beware the size of the handle, better to have a larger handle you can grip and get some leverage. Unfortunately some of the smaller screwdriver sets have such small handles (often only 8mm or so wide), that you cannot open tight screws with them.

You really need to check if the scewheads are Phillips, Pozi-drive or Torx. They can be sometimes so small that they look just like philips, but on most modern laptops nowadays they are usually torx heads.

Ah, yes, thanks, they're regular Philips (maybe because my laptop is a bit older already), according to the screws so far and the ones depicted on the disassembly instructions..

have you tried going to the manufacturers site and downloading a manual, or try googling the laptop model and add 'dismantling' there's usually something posted, worth a try anyhow.

Cheers, yes, I think I've found the info now, couldn't find it at first in the dismantling instructions I used, they were in a somewhat awkward place. Thanks for your replies.

They do sell "kits" at places like CO and Biltema. Some of the tiny "clocksmith" screwdriver sets are though just crap.
