Does someone know, when in March, is border control at airport being abolished for new Schengen countries (e.g. Poland, etc.)?

Not having border control doesn't mean you don't need a visa if you need one.

It's valid already. If you have Schengen you don't need visa for Polnd anymore, it's been like that since the day one of those new countries becoming part of Schengen, 1.12.2007 or whtever day it was. The day you are asking about - March 31st I believe - what will be abolished after that is only the procedure itself of "looking at people's passport". So you are free to go.

If you are still unsure I can tell you that a friend of mine from outside EU flew into a "new Schengen" country in the end of December on regular Schengen visa. Just hd his passport looked at same way as if he flew into any other Schengen country.

Yeah, the previous reply is correct. Right now even though they are checking passports, if you have a Schengen Visa, they would not stop you for the new Schengen states.
