Well Janitors do visit even without any cause. One fine day I come from work and see a note lying on my kitchen counter. A PM to Hank tells me that it was left behind by Janitor who had come to inspect the house. I think some kind of inspection. That day my apartment was in such a mess, dishes in sink, shorts on the couch, papers strewn, etc. It was a weekday for God's sake.otyikondo wrote:i have no idea whether you are being serious or not, but if you are, perhaps you'd explain WHY the janitor should have gone in there. ....I know it's not funny...but then again it kind of is... This has been my view for quite a while.... Another reason the rest of the Western world should be thanking the Finns....The war that few in the West...well, in North America, anyway ...seem to know anything about... The Red Army's performance during Talvisota saved the British Isles....It wasn't the Americans...otyikondo wrote:As a signal to bad debtors, it is about as enticing as the signal given to the Third Reich by the Red Army's performance in late 1939.
OK, OK...enough blasphemy for now....

Janitors do come to inspect houses without any immediate cause. One day when I came from work, I saw a note lying on my kitchen counter. A PM to Hank, revealed that it was a visit by the Janitor. Ah yes, THAT kind of janitor. Been so long since I've been in the talonmies situation, I was more thinking about isännöitsijä. But the chances are that there WAS no talonmies on the premises, and it was all farmed out to a service company, whom you'd have call in. Which is tricky when you are dead.greenhorn wrote:Janitors do come to inspect houses without any immediate cause. One day when I came from work, I saw a note lying on my kitchen counter. Were you renting? Might be different then, but I don't recall too many unheralded talonmies visits, though old Seija used to pop in now and then for a cup of coffee and a chinwag.
Re: Urban hermits
The building is locked at all times to keep out any solicitors. The maintenance man is a drunk who hasnt bothered my father in law in years. Not to mention that the maintenance man doesnt even have a copy of the top lock key as I think many in the building want it that way. I think that most people in this building do not want there privacy disturbed. The other recluse in the building that they mentioned in the article had a plumbing leak and was leaking into the apartment below last year. She also never gave the building comp. a key either. When the maintenance men wanted in and this paranoid woman wouldnt let them, the police came and physically broke the door down.
So as you can see the janitor probably couldnt have gotten in there even if he wanted to.
