Anything like Tampere's American Diner in Helsinki area?

Post by jas_rho » Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:42 pm

I've recently moved from Tampere down south and I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is any place in Helsinki/Espoo that comes close to American Diner in Tampere? Its one of the things I miss from there already :)

I think Texas bar & grill is closest, but still not the same. Chico's have similar foods... I was pleasantly when I ate at Amarillo recently...

Sad to say, but they're not as good as they were a few years ago, but they do have Buffalo Chicken Burger, which tastes pretty authentic. They (at least used to) sell some candy bars & snacks too to take away...

I'd also recommend the Taco House on Hämeenkatu, pretty decent Tex-Mex fast food and Siipiweikot for some chicken wings.

Yeah its a good place. Amarillo is ok but doesn't touch American Diner. I went to chico's here in Helsinki a while back before I moved here and while it was just lunch, I wasn't so impressed. When it comes to a good burger joint with decent selection and quality food AD is the place to be ;) It's at least my favorite place to go to in Tampere. I've always gotten good service as well.
I like the Chili Size burger that comes with chili all over it. And for chili I mean like chili con carne.

Yeah I admit that sometimes you have to wait. Usually they'll tell you if there is gonna be a long wait. And yeah, the portions are good sized so go there hungry :D Try the big tower... that's one that I never got around to ordering.

I always get the BLT at Chico's. The BBQ sauce isn't traditional, but it's not a bad addition.

Yeah you are talking about Bugsy or Speakeasy... I don't remember which one it is anymore but one used to be downstairs from the other but they have since combined to become one. I think its still Bugsy. Its sort of an italian-american wannabe type of place.

Yep Speakeasy rings a bell, and yes it is big and has seating upstairs, i had this really great pizza starter, something different than i had tried before.
