Red Pepper Flakes
Red Pepper Flakes
Anyone knows where I can Red Pepper Flakes? Preferably in downtown/Kamppi area tomorrow. To my understanding chili-rouhe is pretty much the same thing. Don't confuse chili-rouhe with chili spice mixes or chili powder...

You asked for chilli-rouhe, so I thought I would be helpful and point out that it is available under a common and widely stocked brand, and you choose to come on sarcastic???

Re: Red Pepper Flakes
There are a couple of spice stalls in Hakaniemi market hall and they have EVERYTHING.
Might also find it in the Wanha Kauppahalli on the harbour (but I rarely go there so not sure).
And then there are all the Asian markets on Hameentie which you could check out when you go to Hakaniemi Market.

I'd go with penelope's suggestion, but to be obvious, I'll point out that Santa Maria chilirouhe is never
in alphabetical order with the rest of the bottles as it's been put aside in some "too spicy for the natives"
section. As for K-market Kamppi, I'd say ask them, they are constantly rearranging stuff there and
it's always a crap shoot as to where they're going to put something the next time.

Re: Red Pepper Flakes
That would be my suggestion too - if you enter the Hakaniemi market hall via Hämeetie (the entrance closer to Vii Voan & other Asian shops) there's a spice shop to your right just after the entrance. (they even had Ras el Hanout the last time I visited them!) OR, you could try the ethnic shops...penelope wrote:There are a couple of spice stalls in Hakaniemi market hall and they have EVERYTHING.

(Indian and Vietnamese stores in ) Hakaniemi has the dried variety under medium and hot and very hot varieties..
