Post by Mikkeli » Sat Mar 29, 2008 3:41 pm

I find Finnish impossible, I cant remember the words after ten mins, and I just cant get my head around the words in Finnish.
How did you get on with Finnish?

(PS I'm from ireland, and I dont have a background in any other language.)

Dunno, I guess its gotten by osmosis from the rain puddles. You see them little kindergarten kids screaming in them puddles and they speak Finnish fluent.. So maybe one needs to go scream in a puddle... though a few years back some French guy did that and spent the night in jail, well he went to do snow angels in the yard but nevertheless.

As for me, I am a beginner, but still I don't find finnish grammart difficult, either not difficult to understand.
I can imagine how it is hard for native-english speakers to understand the grammar.

As for the words - yeah. There are lots of similar words and it is a bit tricky to remember all of them. But once you are already using them, it gets easier and easier.

Good luck!

This is a typical sarcastic response to a question Hank seems to think is asked too often here. Yet he always is one of the first to reply anyway...
Hank, haven't you got anything better to do than be this forums ogre?

Somewhat hypocritical isn't it? You didn't answer the question in a reasonable fashion and i just commented on your tendency of doing so.
Now i'm a brainless twat am i? Ok, whatever mate, just remember that you are starting to become predictable.

What do you mean "predictable"?

I think the predecessor of this board in Google Groups has enough vitriol to claim a standard.

I decide what the fashion is you obnoxious handler of other peoples luggage. And the fashion this week is being hit on the head with a stiletto heel. That is *reasonable* - if I was really annoyed I'd told him to go fornicate with a reindeer - look what miracles happened with a newzealander being molested by a wombat and start speaking australian...

The jaded forum dweller side of you is what i meant, you spend so much time here that it seems you have taken on an air of rectitude.
You feel it is your right to sneer and mock all newcomers who dare to even ask a simple question.
Do yourself a favour, take a break from here and go to Suomi24 or wherever it is that you 'natives' get your kicks.

Getting a bit personal now are we?
I realise you are probably drunk and alone (as usual) so i won't take offense right now.
Just know that you aren't the tough guy you pretend to be and everybody here knows it!

So you are willing to leave the country then  I will happily pass out after the next whiskies knowing my initial reaction to an Australian was correct - they should stay below the equator as here above they don't get any blood to their brain.

See now, that "Finnish by osmosis" WAS A JOKE, but a stupid twat like you cannot appreciate the humor. Go and find a wombat.

And to our Irish friend - I tried to learn Irish. And you complain of Finnish? At least we try to write and speak with the same letters.
