Racist Comments on this board could = a Fine.

In the case of the recent Espoo Guy who got fined, he made offensive comments about Africans.
But it equally would apply to those who make offensive comments about..
Americans or Finns on this or any other board.

Some folk are against any form of control and cry "Free Speach Rules."
"You can call anyone names on the web..so and so is a big fat whatever!"..but when taken to court these comments strangely get deleted by the authors. No doubt the court instructed that this be done.....or else!

The Official line is:
"It should be also that the persons who encounter racist speech are active and report this to police or the Ombudsman for Minorities, otherwise nothing can happen," said Johanna Suurpää, Finland's Ombudsman for Minorities.
She goes on to say..
"Finland could introduce tougher regulations for service providers to encourage civil conduct on the internet"

Does she mean "service providers" as in Sonera/Elisa etc..Or Does she mean "Neil/Finland Forum" who actualy provides the "service" to us users?

I always wonder some Finns on this board take the negative comments about Finns and Finland so lightly. But Americans.... There is so much rampant anti-Americanism everywhere (and including this board and only one on this board who goes for the juggular on anything anti-conservative USA is Winter and I doubt if he's even an American.). When the anti-American blasts are heard on this board, you turn on the TV and see the flag being burned. etc. etc. And yet there is none of these revenge killings planned etc. I'm not saying that American policies are above critisism, but I'm thinking about the FF'ers who quietly read this stuff all the time. I think you guys and girls should be proud of the way you behave. (Except you know who ) I think Canadians get off lightly here.

agreed! but i don't think it will happen. It's so much easier to throw verbal abuse around sitting behind a keyboard than it is to someone's face.

IMHO...most Americans are dam nice people..but their noble efforts are screwed up by a very small "over quoted" minority. Some of them occasionaly post on this BB..But the same undesireable factions occur in all races. :
I make a point of never contributing to threads that they spew their venom into. Others should do likewise and not get "wum-ed."

The funniest part of that article is that not only is the US present in the top of countries hating the US - but that the hatred they have for themselves is actually on par with Iran's and Pakistan's - even North Koreans hate America less than other americans according to that top

I was waiting for this topic to come up. I think that this whole fining system is open to way too much interpretation. I remember when I first started using this board, man was I pissed by some of the anti-american comments. But then after getting to know you guys a lot better, I realized that most of it was in good fun trying to get me fired up. I dont take it personal anymore (oh boy here come some comments ). I hope this censorship cr#p doesnt get out of hand.

I think it should of been prejudice against Americans and not racist towards them. Doesn't Americans, Germans, Kiwi's, Brits etc all come under the caucasian race?

German race I can accept... there's enough homogeneity of specific genetic markers that make them unique.
British people = combination of Anglo, Celt, Saxon and Jute races
The main races in New Zealand people are Maori, polynesian (Samoan and Tongan), Chinese and European (Anglo, Saxon, Celt and Jute). There is no New Zealand race acknowledged here... we take a more pragmatic view to the logical assignment of race based on genetic heritage... probably because we don't have the baggage that Europeans have (ethnic cleansing and extermination camps probably make you a bit gun shy when it comes to defining people by their genetic heritage).

As for American race... could you point out which one of these belongs to the American race for me?






Cause I can guarantee that they'll all have very different genetic markers (consistent with differing race characteristics)... you can call them all American people, but they're different races. Maybe in another 2000 odd years all the interbreeding will have led to a homogeneous race (unless of course, specific races do the Jewish thing of only marrying amongst themselves and thus protecting their genetic integrity).
