Something to do?

Post by junsheng » Wed Mar 26, 2008 7:45 pm

I have been in Finland for a month now and I really have nothing much to do. Work hasn't started and I have no courses to take up either.

The only friends I have around here is my roommate, an exchange student I met in the sauna, and thats pretty much it.

Was wondering if there are anything that I can do without spending much (I'm on a budget). Something like fishing, hanging out, playing video games together or even doing some voluntary work.

I'm in Jyvaskyla btw.

Try joining some social groups. I don't know about where you are, but here in Helsinki we have many Couchsurfing get togethers, and there's also jolly dragon ones as well. I'd imagine you could meet plenty of local people through these organizations.

http://www.couchsurfing.com <go to the groups page and seach by place.

http://www.jollydragon.net don't use this site, but know plenty of people that do.

Good luck.

They have some buddy program arranged by ESN. It was pretty active when I was a student in 2002
