dna, paternity test
hi all of you
how does one get a dna / paternity test done? there is a baby coming sometime very near in this year. however, me and her were separated for some while and well you can think the rest. just to be clear: i have no issues at all and not that it would change anything if child is not mine. however, that being said, the rightful biological father (if not me) has an complete right to be a part of the child's life as i am right now with my child.
where can we get the tests done? is it done from the public health services? or also privately? any idea of what it might cost?
thanks a lot all, would really like some help here.

Re: dna, paternity test
Well, its usually ordered by the "county child controller" as children born out of wedlock need to be "claimed". They'll send the paperwork and the mother and the father must appear to sign. They do the tests in public healthcare and theres a few forms to sign... but only if the child controller or the court appoint the tests, if its a private thing then you have to pay some 300... And then theres legal ramifications... so basically you have to "deny" as if you admit they won't test and then even if you're not the father then the real father isn't anyone with any responsibilities nor rights.

After. It is called the "lastenvalvoja" and no worries, they send the notice automatically as the county doesn't want to pay child support. Theres going to be paperwork asking for the name of the baby, which also comes automatically, so basically you just need to wait.... full bureaucratic service.

Amniocentesis is another way to check paternity before the baby is born. If your ex is having it for any other reason they can add in a paternity test alongside.

PS: Hank, did you mean that I have to do nothing at all and wait for the papers to come through? Or file something and then the papers will come through?
Thanks.
Thanks.

When you have a child out of wedlock, you get to go to the council to have your 10 mins of social stigma (at least for the mother) where both parents sign some papers stating that
1) That the mother has not had sex with anyone else in the last year or so
2) that the father accepts that he's the father
My guess is that they'll order tests if they don't get signatures from both parties.

Re: dna, paternity test help needed
I am living with a girl that has a baby. I love her and the baby very much. We live in Medellin Colombia. She tells me a man in Finland is the father. He has two passports. One from Finland and one from the US. He signed the birth paper in Colombia. She has never asked the man for money. I wrote the man asking for a paper so we could travel outside of Colombia. He now claims he is not the father. He will not give us a paper to travel. He will not get her papers to help her get sole custody. Can anyone tell me what I can do in Finland to get him to take a DNA test? Can I hire a lawyer in Finland to help? We only want papers and him out of our lives. Please point me in the right direction.
