South African nosh in Stockmann

Post by Rosamunda » Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:18 pm

Starts tomorrow... some kind of South African food fair in Stockmann. Drinks, snacks, cook-in sauces, ostrich, crocodile and rooibos and probably some biltong... it was all roped off when I walked through today (Tapiola) but the lady stocking up the shelves told me it will open tomorrow (Wednesday).

No mention of bunny chow?

If they are selling butternuts, someone please mention, I'll ask the MIL to grab a few... they are as rare as rocking horse s**t in these parts.

I'm in HEL all day tomorrow so I might "dash" into Herkku and see what there is. Will let you know. What's Finnish for butternut squash??? (I don't think I have ever bought or cooked one :? )

Yes there is butternut squash. 2,90 euro per kilo. I have been walking around with two of them and 5 kudu steaks in my bag all afternoon!

You can always buy butternuts at the organic fruit and veggie stall in Hakaniemi market hall
