Post by raamv » Thu Apr 17, 2008 9:47 am

Unless my mind is playing tricks on me, I thought that they have it in Stockmann, in the same area as B&J.

My local R-kiosk at least used to have them, but I have not checked lately. Maybe they still do, I mean R-kiosks.

I have seen it many places. Stockmann carries it and most of the K-kauppa stores that I go to usually have it.

I think I've seen it in Stocka, too... though I'm not a big friend of ice cream in general, and thus very rarely buy any, it's just the name that has caught my attention. I mean how should you pronounce Häagen-dazs?

In an act of tongue-twisting retaliation I suggest that the Valio ice-cream bar in Kamppi change their name to Äteritsiputeritsipuolilautatsijäätelöbaari...

As it is spelt.

I don't understand why B&J and HD are not better marketed here, Mövenpick is just as good quality, just as expensive and seems to be everywhere, it would be great to have the variety of the other two brands.

Mind you, doesn't the big K-market in Myyrmäki also sell B&J? In tubs, along the main isle where the frozen stuff is?

Never bought it though, as said I'm not really an ice-cream fan at all - most varieties nowadays taste too sweet to me. I'm getting old I suppose :D Give me 'dry', sharp and tangy lemon sherbet instead...

Myyrmäki doesn't really help when you live waaay out here!

I prefer sorbet too... the coconut Pappagallo(?) that Stockmann used to sell in the 4th (?) floor, next to the goldfish was really good.

A mere 2 years on and both B&J and H-D are available in most supermarkets.

Fantastic, great, nice one.

If only there was more variety... Despite having asked for it from the employees and through their website, my local S-market carries only a few different ones (like 3 H-D's and 4 B&J's, which always stay the same).

Ass-Market is coop, so you need to get some other members to push the thing through with you. Try K-Market instead, they have storekeepers that might be more interested in making profit, so there should be more service available. Of course ymmv, but I have always gotten better service and selection at K than S, prices... well, you pay for service and selection, right?

ps. i was exaggerating a bit when describing the difference with those two, but there might be a hint of truth behind.
