does anyone have (or has seen) a recording digibox where you can set it to record the same program every day (or week) AND automatically replace the previous program with the latest one?
I want one where you can set it to record something like the news every day, but each time it records it replaces yesterday's news, so at any one time you always have the most recent recording of the news. Most have a repeat feature but they don't give the option to overwrite the previous day's version. so you end up with one entry for every day and have to do some cleaning from time to time.
I have a panasonic HD+DVBT box that does this but I want something with a cable tuner instead.

recording digibox with overwrite timer
Re: recording digibox with overwrite timer
Difficult one. I ve owned a satellite DVR for many years.
The feature you are asking is a Application & hard-drive feature as it needs to know what was the last program recorded, where and then erase it and see if it is the same time period that it has to record etc etc..
In some boxes, you have the option to record and Store permanently and then change it to be erasable.
The erasable part happens only when the Hard drive starts to become full so newer programs are overwritten on older ones.
If this is available then consume most of the HD space and set the recording to Temporary and then store all other recordings as permanent.

You could do something like that with the Dreambox DM 7025 – by writing a custom plugin in Python. It’s probably possible with the Topfield TAPs, too. But I’m not aware of any easy ready-made solutions.bevanrl wrote:does anyone have (or has seen) a recording digibox where you can set it to record the same program every day (or week) AND automatically replace the previous program with the latest one?
