Vantaa airport to train station

Post by dissy » Fri Apr 18, 2008 6:53 am

I need to get to Kuopio by train, so from what I could find out I should take the #61 bus to Tikkurila, right? I don't really understand the YTV site :?. I guess it's frequent enough that knowing the time schedule isn't that important. How long of a drive is it? How will I know when I'm there (big sign? lol) and how do I make my way to the train once I get off? Just want all the directions so it's worry-free as possible :)

If you are coming from the airport you just need to jump on any bus that says Tikkurila on it. You will get off when you see a bunch of buses stopping at the same location. Once you get off the bus at Tikkurila you are at the train station. The platforms will be to your right.
**** that and **** you

Bus no. 61 is what you will need, they don't always say Tikkurila on them so don't rely on that at all. Some only have a number or might say Mellunmäki instead...
It's about a 20-25 minute trip depending on how many people are getting on and off on the way. You'll know you are there where you see the big Sokos hotel appear on your right and the train station thingy on your left. However when the bus stops at the station you'll be disembarking to your right and walking over to the platforms just a short distance away.
Buses from the airport to Tikkurila go quite regularly so don't stress if you miss one.

Well if you are going to Tikkurila station, Others have already stated that.
If you want to go to the Helsinki central station, then you can take the every 30 minuets Finnair bus that gos to rautiatieasema.
here is the schedule

The 615 bus will also take you straight from the airport to rautatieasema in the city and it only costs 3.60e or so.
I'm pretty sure that the Finnair bus costs much more than that.

Bus 615 trip takes about 25minutes, I don't think that is much. The price is 3.80e now. Nevertheless, the person who is asking the question doesn't care what the price is :)

Tariffs have gone up: Finnair Bus costs nowadays 5.90€ and the bus 615 costs 3.80€ as already stated. 61 to Tikkurila costs 2.40€.

The stupid thing is that if you then wanted to catch the train to the city, you'd have to have paid the 3.80e for a seutulippu on the bus, or then buy another ticket at the train station (costing 3.80e). Technically your 2.40e ticket isn't valid to get you into Helsinki, however that's IF you get caught...

If I didn't care about the price, I would take a taxi ;) but I thought I would save some euros and take a bus. Unless the flight is late (not so likely from Frankfurt), then I have over an hour to catch the train, so don't need to get there in a hurry.

Well I will just go to Tikkurila with the #61, don't know what the point is to go to Helsinki.

Well I think short flights within Europe are usually reliable, but I know not always. My flight from Helsinki to Paris was 2hrs late because of fog, I was lucky my connection flight to Toronto was also delayed (I think there was just 1hr between flights). No I didn't fly from Frankfurt before, but Dusseldorf twice...is Frankfurt airport bad?

It's not only if Frankfurt is so bad, but also how long it will take before you get your luggage in Helsinki... (if at all on the same flight... :P ) .
