Selling Ideas..!

Post by rauginta_kojine » Fri Apr 18, 2008 6:37 pm

Hello everybody!

It is a long time I didn't have any questions... But recently there came an interesting idea to my mind..

For example, if the person has some really good ideas (offer them to some companies with the whole plan of course), but he doesn't know what is the system of selling ideas and how it works.

For example, I have many ideas which should be very perspective in everyday life. I have heard that there are people who do sell their ideas and they practically can live with the income only from selling ideas. Of course, it would be better not to sell, but to try to establish a company or to make the idea come true by yourself, but there is always a money question which does not allow...or you just don't want to start any business on your own name.

In this situation, I have these questions :

1. Are in this forum any people who have been doing that or know somebody who is doing that?
2. If there are, then, could you explain me what is the system, what should I do firstly with my idea, how to present it to the company, how does it work? Is it realistic to sell ideas? What is the possibility that the company will reject you and will steal your idea??
3. Anyone has heard of this thing, what are your thoughts, advices?

Thanks everybody.

There is a problem:
Before someone wants to buy your idea, you have to tell it.
And then nothing prevents him from using it without paying you.
There is no copyright on ideas.
And they can always use the excuse "we were already thinking along those lines".

So you have to find a way to make people interested without telling them about your idea.
(Or protecting them in another way.)

Yes I know this could easily happen. But I have heard people presenting the whole written plan based on the idea. The plan should include the main idea and computions how would it cost to make and when would it bring back the profit..
But also I have heard, that while presenting the plan to some customer or a company (someone said that it is not advised to go to the big companies as they steal ideas the most of all) , but not to tell everything. But I reall doubt it could work like that...

Anyways, I still wait for someone who has faced these things.

Only one real option to sell idea without been employed at a company it is to patent it. You can't patent the idea, however, only the implementation. As soon as you got the patent you may license it to anyone for a agreed fee.
