Germany is the only EU country in mainland Europe that has any unrestricted roads. Eats insane amount of fuel, got pisspoor space for carrying junk and most of the time you have no use for most of it's horsepower. And most likely rides so low that you are better sticking to only well maintained part of road network.
120km/h, max speed you will find out there. And even that only during summer.
Well maintained road network, small and getting smaller every year.
Price of fuel, up and soaring further with every passing year.

Yay! Yet another speedhog for the roads.
Comes to my mind this recent thing how one knight of the highway was driving 120+km/h. I think it was in this place called "Malaga". Granted, guy also had been knocking up some booze. But he still wouldn't have succeeded in causing so much damage if he hadn't though he was Kimi Räikkönen and put pedal to metal.
Oh yes, and police have mobile cameras they drop down. And police does not report it's radar traps to anyone so your 400€ purchase is only valid for permanent camera posts.

If you drive on any Finnish highway in the summer, you will soon find out why the speed is restricted. Usually after a tough winter, and numerous cars driving with studs most of the year the roads are a little worst for wear.nidhal wrote:

Well you can and it is possible to detect all cameras, fixed mobile etc. , but they don't help with laser guns - by the time they detect the gun your speed has been clocked. Interestingly in the UK it seems as if camera location detection is encouraged - by law all static cameras have to be painted a standard colour and be clearly visible and warnings, I believe, have to be posted when mobile cameras are used. Camera detectors are not illegal in the UK (they used to be, but only because it they technically needed a radio license) - it is possible to buy laser jammers - but they are certainly illegal - if you check the sales sites they are sold as garage door opening kits. I can see an argument for everyone knowing where cameras are - but there are obviously arguments against. The authorities in the UK have taken the first route I guess - even so an incredible number of people get booked every year in the UK - 'bout 2 million.
