Veikon Kone problems
Veikon Kone problems
So I bought a TV from Veikon Kone this past Saturday right before closing. Naturally the TV was not available and after some haggling they admitted that they had another new TV on a box in Lohja so I didnt have to take the floor model.
Well I went there on Monday morning right after they opened and asked them to cancel my order because of other things that came up... Guess what ? They refused to refund my money even though the TV had not even left the warehouse in Lohja.
Instead they offered to give me back 90% of the money as the best deal they could give me. In other words, even if you change your mind a microsecond after the credit card has been swiped, it is too late to do anything or at least that is what I was told.
Is this true ? Can anyone confirm this.
If so, this is the last time I am buying something from these guys.
Verkkokauppa or Gigantti are far better choices with much better customer service.

Re: Veikon Kone problems
Well yes, they don't need to give your money back once you have ordered and paid.
Verkkokauppa and Stockmann are the black sheep in the lot that they give full money back!!
and Gigantti is worse

Excluding those shops that explicitly make it clear that they DO have a full return & refund policy, I guess the standard thing from the other shops' point of view is that when an adult person voluntarily agrees to buy a product, then this deal will only be "100% cancelled" if the said product is defective in some way... or for other more valid reason than just "hey guess what I changed my mind".Hank W. wrote:A mans word is trusted. Naturally, even then it may be possible to negotiate a full refund - but AFAIK this is not something the shops are obliged to do, unless there really is something wrong with the product.
Bad customer service - or thoughtless customer behaviour? Sometimes it's hard to say which one prevails...

Re: Veikon Kone problems
The principle in Finland though is you make a deal and it stands. Same thing what Mark's been lamenting in renting his room... people don't stand up on their word which makes the Finn go "foreigners cannot be trusted"... Small little things in the culture - whatever "foreigners think" might be totally opposite of how "Finns think" of what conduct is "natural" and "proper way to do things". Nothing should be taken for granted - like the ability to change your mind - or it might get one into serious trouble if say haphasardly making an offer to buy a house... it will be yours.
But indeed from the Finnish P.O.V. it is never "bad customer service" it is always a "bad customer".

Typical outdated Finnish way of thinking. I didn't promise anything or gave my word on it. I was just dumb enough to pay for it upfront instead of having them bring the TV first and then pay on delivery.Hank W. wrote:A mans word is trusted. You can't back up on your word.
Ikea has a big poster at the entrance stating that it is OK to change your mind.
No wonder they are so successful and people shop there all the time. Same goes for Verkkokauppa. They understand customer service

Speak for your self. Actually most Finns are far more pragmatic than you think that is why they are slowly realizing the online shopping and shopping outside Finland makes sense not only for the cheaper prices but for the flexibility and service they provide, like a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee.Hank W. wrote:The principle in Finland though is you make a deal and it stands. Dont believe me, check out the biggies like Amazon.de or Curry's in the uk or even Pixmania in France. They get the traffic because of their commitment to product satisfaction

Try the same trick with Verkkokauppa or Gigantti and you will probably get the same response...bill wrote:So I bought a TV from Veikon Kone this past Saturday right before closing.

Why the Ef should these stores accept a cancelation...because....of other things that came up?
And this a liitle gem of BS..They get the traffic because of their commitment to product satisfaction
To measuure product satifaction one must first use the product.

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Am I correct in saying that you ordered the product FROM STORE?
If you order product from online store, you are automatically given certain period to return product for dissatisfaction.
This is because in online store you are not able to see actual product.
But catch is, when you buy product from store, specially one where you have opportunity to observe and perhaps test the actual product before deciding to buy it...
Well, you are assumed to have found product satisfying short of any malfunctions which go to warranty anyway.

I really doubt that any company will deliver it without you paying first ( If you find one, let me know who it is )
Who says that IKEA is so successful as compared to other stores ( MASKU, ISKU, VPESÄLAINEN)? and for that matter IKEA doesnt sell TVs.
Oh Yes Verkkokauppa n Stockmann do take a full return, but then their average prices on any item is higher than what you can find ( on lots of items, but there are bargains to be had if you know what you are buying and TV is not one of them).

Corretions: 1) IKEA is far more successful than ANY Finnish furniture store, 2) In Verkkokauppa you order first and then you pay 3) Verkkokauppa has one of the lowest prices. Try Vertaa.fi and you'll see 4) Elektroni.fi has a store where you try stuff out. If you like it you place the order first and pay upon delivery to the store... there

Re: Veikon Kone problems
A neighbor ordered from Verkkokauppa, used the TV and then returned it within 14 days because he did not like the sound of it and got a full refund from verkkokauppa, so get informed before making those assertionssinikettu wrote:Try the same trick with Verkkokauppa or Gigantti and you will probably get the same response...bill wrote:So I bought a TV from Veikon Kone this past Saturday right before closing.

IKEA sells cheal crap most of the time. It works, but it is not exactly high quality.bill wrote: Corretions: 1) IKEA is far more successful than ANY Finnish furniture store, 2) In Verkkokauppa you order first and then you pay 3) Verkkokauppa has one of the lowest prices. I
n Verkkokauppa you can pay in many ways, paying to their account first is actually cheapest as it minimizes their expenses and risk. They also sell cheaper because they do most of business online and only run 2 stores while selling to whole Finland.
And finally, haven't you dumb*** realised that buying online and ordering from store are two different things.
There is by LAW requirement to have 14 day return period for stuff bought online. There is no such requirement in store purchased items. If you make purchase/order in the store it is presumed by defaul that you are happy with product and want it.
Online stores do not make it possible to test item before purchase so they have this mandatory 14 day period.
