I have read articles that suggest a language acquired (to fluency) after the magical age of 11 is pretty much hard-coded. I think it is something to do with the development of the brain, but I'm not a neurologist and I can't remember where I read the article. IMO, it sounds like the theory could be true. My youngest son was only 5 years old when we moved here and he only spoke French. Today he has forgotten nearly all of it and struggles along with the rest of his class in French lessons. His older brothers have held on to their French and the eldest is still fairly fluent and quickly improves after a few days back in France. But I'm sure it varies from one individual to another, so there are probably no real "rules" about this kind of thing.

At a guess I would say you will make VERY quick progress and soon become fluent again.

Lucky you 8)

Merci for the comments and story Penelope!

Yes, Finland's great. (IMO)

By the way there is a Finnish-French forum here: www.sudfinlande.net

Enjoy Switzerland. If you are in Geneva make sure you get to visit Annecy in Haute Savoie (France) and all the places around Lake Geneva (Yvoire, Evian) and the mountains (Abondance etc). It's a fantastic region.
