Hello!

My name is Francisc, I am looking for a job in southern Finland as a Truck driver or Auto glass installer/Glazer. I have a valid driver license with the BE and CE endorsements plus U.S.A. Experience in the for mentioned fields. I speak fluently the English, Hungarian and Romanian languages. Would also accept a job in other fields or seasonal work. Will move to Helsinki the end of May, Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try anything with kuorma autonkuljettaja or kuljettaja (truck driver or driver) or ikkuna asentaja (window installer).

(Let me warn you that you're going to be told that you should read the stickies and we're not a recruitment forum and that you are going to be bombed with questions like why on earth you're not making sure you're having a job BEFORE you come here and do it with a bit more time on your hands than 4 weeks because for the average foreigner it takes about 4 years to get a job here. Oh, and not to forget that your chances to get a job are very slim if you don't speak Finnish. Oh, and are you actually allowed to work here? I.e. do you have the right papers? -> You don't mention your nationality, but US, Hungarian and Romanian citizens still need a visa to work here).

Ummm... those Romanian beggars don't need a visa  Romania and Bulgaria didn't have any restrictions to start with, and the requirement changed...was it in 2005 for the previous round joiners like Hungary.

See the freedom to search work is there. Getting hired, as you say...

Hi!

Thanks for your help and input you guys. You are right in many aspects on this matter, but in my personal view and experience knowing the Finnish language in international trucking doesn't help you much at all.

Well, Russian is one of the languages that was usually asked for here, but with the lumber imports dropping to zero theres a lot of "free agents" on the market again.

No, but if you want to work in Finland in finnish trucking it may be rather important.

How much personal view and experience you have in finnish trucking industry?

Oh, and Hank. I have noticed those trucks near border crossing tend to be with russian plates/drivers.

Russian system tends to heavily favour russian drivers and companies. Foreigners tend to get funny extra payments.

Yeah, the east traffic seems to have been taken over, but just the (few) job ads that were in MOL asked for Russian... and ADR certificates and whatnot..

It helps getting a job, peachfuzz

Virolahdella toimiva yritys hakee ajoneuvoyhdistelmänkuljettajia vakituiseen työsuhteeseen. Ajot Venäjälle ja Eurooppaan. Kuljettajilta vaaditaan hyvää suomen kielen taitoa sekä mahdollisesti kokemusta Venäjälle ajosta.

Or then Russian
Haetaan yhdistelmäajoneuvonkuljettajaa kotimaan ja ulkomaan puoliperävetoon. Ajokortti CE. Kielitaito eduksi (venäjä).

Edellytämme hakijalta kuorma-auton kuljettamisen kokemusta Keski-Europassa ja Venäjällä. Hakijan on osattava venäjän kieltä, saksan kieli suureksi eduksi.

not much requirements for trucking experience in the USA either...

But there was a few hundred adverts there, so there should be one or two suitable ones.
