Dear Members,
My mother was having one lump in her breast, Two weeks before it was removed by doctors.
Lump went for testing..Now they found there are traces of cancer in that. It was some 2.5 cm
wide.
Presently she is in India and further test started to find exactly which treatment will be suitable for her.
I am working here in Finland.. so advice needed.
I was reading more and more over internet about it. I came to know that this is most common in western
world so they must be having best way to recover from this.
What about Finland ?? Is that good idea to bring her here ? I was reading there is one society fighting against this.
How much cost of treatment will be.. any sort of help will be useful..
Regards
Vikas
Help Needed - related to breast Cancer
Re: Help Needed - related to breast Cancer
The only society I know of is Rintasyöpäyhdistys ry: http://www.rintasyopayhdistys.fi/ (in Finnish)
But that is just a peer group where breast cancer patients and survivors support each other, not a medical association. Cancer operations in Finland are usually done in public hospitals. What they do with breast cancers they first check if it is local and has not spread. And if it is very local they cut just the lump off and maybe give some radiaton to the surrounding tissue. If there is a possibility that that is not enoug, they cut the whole breast off. All the women I know who have had breast cancer have had the "whole breast off" type operation, also those whose doctors said the "lump off" would be sufficient. Taking the breast off just feels safer. I don´t know what the operation would cost if it is done privately. So, the "western" treatment we have in Finland is basically "cut it off". I think she can get that also in India. And later many women have a second operation, where doctors shape a new breast either from the woman´s own fat and tissue or silicon.
