Graduation present
Graduation present
Can anybody help me with an idea for a graduation present? She is from a very wealthy family´- neighbours of ours - and has just about everything she wants and needs.

Re: Graduation present
Money. That is what they want and also need, wealthy or not. The amount depends on your relationship. It has been years when I last gave a graduation gift. I think we gave 100 € or 200 € to our godsons, and 50 € or 100 € to my husband´s nephew. 20 € should be enough for a neighbours kid. Post offices sell congratulation cards that have "a money pocket".
Re: Graduation present
And get a nice, unused 20 € bill from a bank, not some wrinkled used thing from your wallet. Plus a rose on top of it.
Re: Graduation present
OTOH if you think maybe she is so rich that 20€ won't make a difference, you could always buy her a book (eg about Australia if that's where you are from) and write something nice on the inside cover.
We gave cash to our niece as she gave birth 3 months after graduating from High School and needed the money for baby stuff. But as the others said, it is traditional to give a rose as well.

Re: Graduation present
Some time ago, I bought a 3D puzzle, level 8 (Hanayama cast puzzles, http://stores.brilliantpuzzles.com/-str ... Detail.bok, brain teasers
category). It took me some 3 hours to dissasamble it, some 2 hours to create a different shape, and a lot of time to get it back to original shape (and was not able to do it without help from our friend google). I will write something like: since you have finished school, you have now a lot of time. She will remember it rather than a 20 euros banknote that you can spend on 4
downtown.

Someone with more time could translate this http://www.taloussanomat.fi/raha/2008/0 ... 814039/139 but in summary: kids want money, gift cards, cheque etc. They don't want jewelry, glassware or cookware.

Re: Graduation present
Yes.... the ubiquitous Alvar Aalto vase and a set of Hackman saucepans. Pretty sure they were NOT on my wish-list when I left school
