How to dispose of (recycle) used car oil???

Just about to do the annual oil change on the car and I realized that I have no idea of what to do with the old oil. Can I put it into an old plastic container and bring it somewhere for recycling. I know back in the States you could return used oil back to wherever they sold oil or to any service station. What is the procedure here. Thanks everyone!

Perhaps take it to your local waste disposal centre...

Your location field points to Järvenpää. The local waste management and recycling arrangements are explained on the official website of the city. According to this page, hazardous waste should be taken in clearly marked closed containers to Kiertokapula Oy’s waste collection stations, or dropped off to their “Kapu” collection truck. Thanks for the help guys. Too bad that those pages are in Finnish Has anyone returned used oil before. Do they return the container to you or do they take the entire thing? Just wondering before I waste a good metal container. Thanks again.

Try your local major shopping centre with the big bins for recycling paper, metal, glass etc. Sometimes they have a thing for used oil. Don't expect it to be free.
