As the Tallink boat is about to pull into Helsinki harbor with me and my bike aboard, I thought I would ask some more questions about this subject.
1. In all of southern Europe, it is common and allowed to park motorbikes pretty much anywhere, as long as they are out of the way and safe. Including sidewalks and areas where cars are not allowed to park. As I have been in Helsinki long enough, I can assume that this does not hold true here. Or does it? If not, where do people park their motorbikes? On the streets with cars and susceptible to all the same parking fees/fines as cars?
2. SGaudreau had suggested in my previous post to check out http://www.allright.fi/EN/index2.html for buying a helmet and I do plan to when I get settled. However they don't sell Metzeler tires, and I need to buy a rear. I only found a site called Duell bike center in Finland that carries this brand, but they wanted three times the amount that the tire sells for in the states. I understand price differences are to be expected, but to pay over $400 for a standard motorcycle tire is a little over the top. Are there any other cheaper solutions that Finns know of? Perhaps a daytrip to Tallinn or ordering online from a German retailer?

Re: Motorcyling Finland part 2
Hi, check out this place HERE. I recently bought two tyres for my bike and they were really cheap. I just ordered online then went and picked them up from their office in Malminkartano.
Just put Meztler into the search box and you will find all the sizes and prices. The average price of a large rear tyre (180) is about €200..
Sorry, don't know about the parking. Mine is still engineless
