I dont know exactly which kind of screwdriver you would need for that, but I know that Clas Ohlsson has kits of screwdrivers to fix mobile phones and computer parts. Maybe you can find what you want there.

They are not philips head and not hex but torx?

They have a reason to make it hard to open the computer.

Regarding the kits with 5 small screwdrivers, sometimes the handles are so small that you cannot get enough leverage to open the screws. Suggest finding one with a thicker handle.

go to your laptop manufacturers web site, put in the model number and find the manual, or Google the name and model number and add dismantling or change ram and you'll find the size/type screwdriver you want.

Frank: I googled and the screwdriver size didn't show up. And my tablet manual just told me to unscrew it, and screw it back in later, didn't even mention a screwdriver, let alone the size :D

But thanks for all the suggestions :) everyone. Yeah and karhunkoski, ur right. The little metal screwdrivers that come in a kit don't have very good leverage or grip. Actually now i understand why the screws kept falling out all the time on my toshiba laptop (well, not really, they shouldn't have been falling out in the first place since it came back from the official toshiba repair centre :P), but I would screw them back in with the little metal screwdrivers, and they would fall out again in a week or so.

actually i have more than one laptop to open, cos i have 2 unworking laptops and just trying to get out the ram so i can put it in a laptop that is working. i had the idea that the screw sizes were the same for the ram panel thing on most laptops, but i guess it varies?

laptop manufacturers tend to make all their models different so you can't swap bits and pieces. You'll be ok with memory though, probably

The screw sizes are usually the same. Small cross head.

You might wanna check if your RAM goes in the other laptop, though. You can't just stick any memory in whatever combination in any laptop.

I've can't remember coming across a laptop with the same screws, unless they're the same model, but I haven't repaired that many laptops, fiddly horrible things... But there's only one way for you to find out.

I did say 'probably' about the ram, should have been more helpful. So here is the ram specs for your Toshiba

Standard Memory 256 MB (removable)
Maximum Memory 2.0 GB
Memory Expansion 2 sockets
Memory Comments PC2100/2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs
