Where to get dogs in Lapland?

Post by mphilippe » Sat Jun 07, 2008 3:15 pm

Hi everyone,
my wife and I live in Lapland and we would like to get some kind of a lap dog but its quite hard to find here. Would anyone you know have some for sale or donation ? Because we would also be prepared to go to pick it up in the South of Finland too.

Breeds like pugs, russian toy doys, miniature poodles, french bulldogs would be the ideal companions to us.

Thanks in advance!

I think there is a reason why those types of dogs are not easy to find in Lapland. For example pugs and bullgdogs catch cold easily, and they also have breathing troubles when it gets very cold. This is the place that takes stray animals in Rovaniemi area: http://www.lemmikkielainhoitolakieppi.f ... age422.htm If they don´t have what you would like to have, at least they should be able to tell where you can find one.

Hello,
I tried to find some contacts for you where to ask a puppy. I think you will get the best help for find a puppy for you and your wife via breed clubs where you find info about breeders and litters coming up.

I found this link for The Finnish Toy Dog Association:
http://www.toydogs.net/english/international.htm

Some french bulldog breeders:

Russian Toys:

Miniature Poodle:

I hope there was a little help from these. They aren't familiar breeds for me so I didn't find much links. But hopefully they will give info at that Toy Dog Association.
