About Taxation in Finland

Post by vidixit » Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:26 pm

Hi All,
I was in Finland and came back on 16th May 2008. My tax card shows some nominal %, Now should I will be charged
35% flat tax or it will be the same % as my company already deducted.

Few years back I had knowledge that if some one spend less than 180 days in one financial year than he will be charged
at 35% flat rate.

I was in Finland for almost entirely 2007.

Regards
Vikas

Hi,
Thanks for reply.

My question is bit different. I am already out of Finland (16th may), so in this financial year
I have spent less than 180 days in Finland. Will I be charged 35% Tax or its just depend on
how much earning I had in this year.

Regards
Vikas

Hi All,
I called up Finnish Tax officer and got the answer. I am posting here just incase it will be helpful to someone.

If Total duration of stay is less than 6 months then finnish tax department will deduct 35% tax.

Since in my case I have spent 11 months from 2007 and 5 months this year.. total duration will be 16 months so I will be
tax normally according to my income in 2008.

Vikas
