Eye sight requirement for Finnish driving license

Post by IE7BETA » Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:28 pm

Do eye sight requirements for driving in Finland, is limited only to normal eye test?

I already have Finnish driving license, but off late I may have some small symptoms of "scotoma" (only a guess though) in one eye, so I need to visit doctor.
Are there risks that I can loose my driving license?

To what degrees are such symptoms allowed, to keep the driving license?

There is risk, its mandatory to inform authorities if you have eye problem what really disturbs ability to drive safely.
Depends how sewere problem is, could be only mandatory glasses while driving etc.

Thats in finnish but there reads you can drive with only one eye if time to adapt is long enough etc so i wouldnt be to worried.
To be honest they are to lenient on licences, my grandfather lost his after he MULTIPLE times drived on wrong side of road etc...

Thanks for info. I see perfectly fine, as the problem is only one small dot in one eye, which is not visible, while using both eyes.

Driving itself has not been an issue. Though I would inform the doctor's report to authorities anyway.

I am just concerned if they are too picky on this issue.

You dont need to tell to inform for authorities, its mandatory to inform if doctor thinks youre not suitable to drive for reason or other.

As in the doctor informs even if you don't want him to inform anyone ;)
