Re: MD Physician, Looking for Job
Go look www.teo.fi => non-EU degrees... you also need to have Finnish language skills before you can have any legal job in medicine.
Cheers, Hank W.

Here:
"Foreign Physicians
To receive a licence to practice medicine in Finland, a doctor from outside the EU or European Economic Area (EEA) has to undergo practical training and pass a three-part examination, including questions on administration, legislation and clinical medicine, and a practical section testing ability to cope with normal clinical situations. There is also a separate language test.
Licences are granted stagewise. The initial licence is valid only for hospital work. It can subsequently be extended to cover health-centre work, and then work in other institutions and in private practice. The licences are always granted for specific periods of time. If a holder of an extended licence is granted Finnish citizenship, the National Authority for Medicolegal Affairs can authorize him or her to practice medicine independently as a licensed physician."

Re: MD Physician, Looking for Job
You should read the replies to your post. They are very clear. He can not work as a doctor without getting his degree accepted by Finnish authorities. Without that, he is allowed to work in McDonalds if they want him, but not as a doctor treating patients.Still if you have some open position for Doctors, Please let me know I will forward his CV for reference.
Plus why would anyone hire the doctor if he does not know the languages in Finland? Would not like to have a doctor that I could not communicate with in a language I know very well. And no, English is not enough.

I suppose you haven't been to a doctor for a while...interleukin wrote:Plus why would anyone hire the doctor if he does not know the languages in Finland? Would not like to have a doctor that I could not communicate with in a language I know very well. And no, English is not enough.

Re: MD Physician, Looking for Job
Actually I have. And I keep getting Finnish doctors who speak Finnish as well as pretty good English and 50% of the time they want to also practice their Swedish. So I have yet to see any indication that this myth of doctors that do not know Finnish would be true.

And I know a reason for that: "Location: Helsinki"interleukin wrote:Actually I have. Doctors are people, probably with families, and it is easier for the spouse to get job in Helsinki, than in.. lets say.. Suonenjoki. Small towns have a problem attracting doctors, so they take whoever they get. Or pay through the nose for rent-a-doctor.

Re: MD Physician, Looking for Job
Ok, so you are saying that in a small town outside of Helsinki, people work illegally as doctors without having gotten their degrees in any way validated? I can buy the language thing but not that. And yet that is what the OP is after, someone to offer his brother a job without him having to do any of the boring details of actually working legally as a doctor in Finland.
